I think most people do not feel the way you do. http://news.cnet.com/8301-10805_3-57566135-75/acer-windows-8-still-not-successful/?ttag=fbwp
So Bob, are you trying to convince us that Windows 8 is bad (because that's not working for me) ... I've actually found that there are features I wish I had on a Windows 7 box that I (still) have and am seriously considering spending another $40.00 to upgrade it (before Friday) ... or is it that you are trying to convince yourself to give Windows 8 another try? I've just noticed that pretty much every thread that has Windows 8 discussions on it that you chime in and point out other opinions from a person or group of people that are complaining about Windows 8 ... just kind of curious ... because this thread is about supporting those that actually WANT to use Windows 8 ... and I certainly understand (and have little doubt) that you do not ... and that certainly is your choice ... and frankly, I'm not trying to convince anyone to move to Windows 8. But, at the same time ... in a thread like this, where there are those of us that have decided to use Windows 8, you posting links to other opinions that contain stories or videos where others are complaining about Windows 8 seems, at best, a waste of your time and effort and at worst a nuisance ... and I am still not sure what you are trying to accomplish ... and frankly, for me, it's falling on deaf ears so-to-speak.
I have personally converted to the next version of Microsoft Windows since the very first version of Windows was released by Microsoft ... and frankly, before that I had upgraded to the latest versions of MS-DOS as they were released ... and regardless, there hasn't been a single instance where there wasn't something that was no longer compatible or something new that took some time to learn and become comfortable with and Windows 8 is no exception. I personally upgrade because I'm a Software Developer that predominantly programs for Microsoft Operating Systems ... and I have been for almost 30 years (in September it will be a full 30 years) ... do I like the new Start Screen and the lack of a menu ... well no, and in the very first post of this thread I put an example of a Free 3rd Party option that gave me back the Start Menu and allowed me to come back to my comfort zone ... but, at the same time, I'm finding features and improvements that were unexpected and I really like / appreciate, and I'm making an effort to learn to become proficient with the new Start Screen ... and it seems others feel the same way ... and I have tried to make this specific thread one where people can come and discuss successes with Windows 8 and TRAINZ and if others want help finding solutions with problems there are having with Windows 8 (and actually WANT to use it) ... they are welcome to provide details of their problems and try to get some assistance.
I guess all-in-all, what I'm trying to say is this... If you are happy with Windows 7 ... or Vista or XP or 2000 or NT, etc, etc, etc ... feel free to stay with it. But when people are having problems with Windows 8 there is no benefit for them to go and read about someone else just complaining about Windows 8 ... unless that article or video actually includes others finding solutions to similar problems ... and if that were the case, I'd welcome the input with open arms. I just can't imagine it being a benefit to you (or anyone) to read or watch others just complaining about Windows 8 ... other than possibly justifying your decision to revert back to Windows 7.
If you want to spend your time within a TRAINZ thread complaining about Windows 8 ... I'd recommend that you start another thread where people can join you in your misery ... seems like a waste of time ... but, hey, to each his own. But, here, we're trying to work with and tweak Windows 8 and make it a better experience with a focus on using it with TRAINZ ... and no offense, but unless you have something constructive to add to the conversation regarding working with Windows 8 ... please feel free to take your conversations elsewhere.
