Will Trainz Simulator10 work better with an Intel HD chipset than Trainz 12?

Thanks to everyone who gave advise on the Intel HD Chipset - it will work but not very well - prompts me to ask if the earlier version (Simulator 10) might work better than Trainz12. Any advise would be appreciated.

Every older version of the game requires less resources so will by definition work better on the same chip set (assuming the game is not to old for it, but 5 years usually is not a problem).

Although the stated requires increase for each version the code actually gets more efficient so running the same content you should get slightly better frame rates. The reason they keep upping the requirements is the average new content has more polys etc. Pick your content very carefully, use repetition rather than different assets a bit like they have done for the android version.

An HD4000 or HD5000 chipset isn't too terrible but lower numbers are not so good news, if its a desktop though even a low end graphics card should improve things.

Many thanks John and oknotsen for your advice - don't think I can run to a new PC and my old one won't take a graphics card (small form factor), so I guess I will just have to download Trainz12 and see if it works. If it doesn't then I have only wasted A$30.00!!

Or subscribe to the newsletter and wait till there is another action and buy the game for only A$20 (or TS2010 for even less).
