Windows xp
2.8 gigahertz Intel Celeron processor
80 gigabyte hard drive
12 megabytes of DDR RAM
Intel 845GV chipset for graphics.
If i am missing any information or need to replace parts just tell me. Thanks!:)

The main key in choosing a gaming PC is CPU speed, and video card.

A fast processor of 2.8Ghz is one key to getting great faramerates in Trainz ... a 3.0Ghz or 3.3Ghz CPU is found on very expensive high end PC's ... whether the video card is up to spec IDK ... a 1Gb or 2Gb video card is best.

As for RAM, Trainz only needs 2Gb-3Gb for Trainz ... You can have a smaller HD than 500Gb for Trainz.

Intel Extreme Graphics 3D is all i can find about Graphics.
And the 2.8GHz processor, it'll work? or juss buy a new processor for it.
I already have this computer, im just wondering if itll run trainz at 25-33fps.
Thanks for the replies.

and would THIS one work for TRAINZ 2012 [not 2010] sorry for slight thread driftt]

What is the CPU speed ? This is what matters most.

I think it is 2.3GHz

As it has a 2Gb dedicated graphics video card that is absawootwee' GREAT !

A 1TB HD is excelent !

I saw it for $1,149 at New Egg

Not if its a slow 5900 should be rpm drive it isn't, as it will be a bottleneck on that system, needs a 7200 rpm drive at least. Worth noting that smaller drives always perform better than same RPM terrabyte ones as well.
Graphics is only 128 bit and according to Nvidia is only DDR3, another possible bottleneck, needs to really be 256 bit with DDR5 for TS12.

IMO that setup is fine for watching videos and general use, not really for gaming.

Personally I feel a better option is to get a proper PC which you can upgrade. An all in one is not really much better than a laptop from that point of view.

Ahhh ... I see ... I shop around for PC's looking at specs ... 99% of laptops are not designed for gaming, at all, and will run Trainz very poorly.

I like full size tower desktops, that are easily retrofitted.

It seems that the $1000 + PC is the only ones that run Trainz well, and even with some over rated/under spec $1000 + PC's, the PS, video card, and CPU is low end.

this is the only other detail i can find re this computer...

thanks guys

Debatable GPU.

From a look at the Nvidia website, the GT 540m is not a dedicated graphics card per se. It is a dedicated chip which is integrated into a motherboard or tablet type thing.

The processor looks reasonable, however if you are going to be doing a desktop tower pc then have a look at AMD. Similar performance to intel, generally half the price. AMD FX 8150 compared to the processor you show is cheaper in UK/Russia prices, I do not know about Thailand prices.

4GB of ram should be enough and the hard drive sounds ok.

I am currently unable to check a few things due to being in St Petersburg at the moment, Maybe some other people can verify the card and processor.

Regards

Johan

ok thanks for all that. i have decided to go with the flow and get a tower computer at highest specs, as much as i like the idea of the all in one, all advise seems to point to getting the tower

I just installed TS2010 on my Toshiba satellite L505D w/ windows 7 home premium...I have dual core CPU @2.3 GHZ which is performance rated @ 3.57 GHZ...it runs as smooth as mercury on a mirror...a good site to check out is "can you run it"...or check out windows compatability mode under Help & support....take care....kurt max

Hope your running it with a cooling pad otherwise you'll be able to fry eggs on it.

Yep the first ones cheap, he did well to make to make a video 5 minutes long to say slap 2 bits of 3x2 wood on top of a fan laid flat.
