Will the Flying scoutsman ever visit the US again?

Australian?

Oh John, come over here for a holiday and take a closer look.

(In fact, now that they have put smoke deflectors on it, it actually somewhat resembles this or that Australian loco. )

I would love too but it's a bit out of my budget. :)

Here's a WA loco all decked up in green with a headlight... :D

I remember when it did tour the US. I was all of 8 on the first go around and 12 on the second. :)

With the pilot, light and Janney couple on the front, the locomotive looks almost like an Australian locomotive of some sort.

I got to see Flying Scotsman at Cleethorpes on 21 June 1969 at the tender age of 5 years old. Amazingly, I didn't get to see mainline steam again until 2014!

Anyone else on here get to see Scotsman on her railtours in the 60s and 70s?

You mean to say they had trains way back then? :hehe:

Australian??, I mean AUSTRALIAN?????

I think a better question is why would a "pommy", ur um I mean UK loco be named after a "Yank"? :hehe:
(No offence meant)

But NO one really knows the real answer if he'll, I mean she'll, I mean it'll ever visit ANY country outside the UK. Of course they it could take a direct rail link to "Continental Europe". Be a bit hard to run in the Eurotunnel under it's own power of course, although NSW has had a steam engine through their underground railway: https://youtu.be/WCEWfSktjTc.

I know that, but weren't those engines built with special features so they could be used in the underground? The video I linked to, those engines are steam engines that weren't specially built for any underground.

Really interesting to know this. Wish I was around during her time in the US. But she looks like she's in pain with all those "improvements" on her. If she does come back, leave her as she is.
