Wife said OK - New Computer

@ lewisner - as stated above I couldn't access the site he suggested because I've disable JAVA, too many negative things happening with that , so I went with most of the original specs except I did away with the second SSD, replaced it with a WD 1T 7200 Black, a different case with 3 fans, 16Gb RAM and the SSD is now 256GB. Got it for $1800. The important thing is I'm happy and now I have to wait.

Cool. Let us know how it works out.

What I plan on doing is run one of my routes from point A to point B and check the framerates using my existing system. Once I get the new system up and running I'll do the same test and hopefully there will be a BIG difference. Will keep you informed.

You could be in for an unpeasant surprise..... you need to set your computer to its capabilities what it can do for trainz, same for the videocard and trainz options, trainz settings. But you know that for sure just mention it trainz freshmen would think its just a turn the switch and run, not true at all.
Good luck and a nice weekend.

Roy

In trainz options there are 2 lines you can add, -framerate= and -framestoaverage=. After the = put a figure for eg 30 for 30 fps. I've found these are the best for smoothing out game play. Adjust these to suit your new comp.
Where you will benefit over me is looking over a big yard with lots of track, your fps shouldn't dip as much. I will watch with interest your results.

@ Roy - I agree with your statement. The new system will be set up to run TRS12, just as the existing system is setup for TRS12. I'm expecting to be able to run most if not all routes with sliders on full but I will experiment, especially with your route. Should be a couple of weeks before I have everything ready to go, maybe not that long, but I want to make sure that I don't miss anything when I transfer all the the files and reinstall some applications. I think I read somewhere here on the forum that all you have to do is move the TRS12 file/folder from the old computer to the new one and you're good to go. Hope it's that easy.

@fran1 - what will the framestoaverage do? Give me a week after I get up and running and I'll give a report on the system.
