Why is downloading so slow.

I do not understand why downloading setup files is so slow and why the files come in multiple pieces. I have no trouble downloading 130mb plus files from microsoft and other vendors yet this site is so slow and to think I am back in the dial up days. There is no excuse for not having the master files uploaded to the cloud on a fast server. Just my two cents worth. A very frustrated two cents at that.

Did you try the mirror server option?

The reason it is in multiple pieces is that each file (apart from the setup.exe file) is 1.5GB each.

Every time I click on a mirror site I get an error that says that Chrome cannot open the site. I download big files all the time with no problem, but this is very frustrating. I'm getting them slowly but surely. I have a 12mps download capability and it still takes almost 30 minutes per section. Must be that underwater link between down under and the US. LOL

It may be, remember though that 1.5GB will still take a while even on a fast connection.

Auran should just seed it as a Torrent.

That may initially sound crazy but it is not really a crazy idea if you think about it.

A: I'm sure a few Trainzers wouldn't mind using their computer as a seed when not playing. My connection has no caps so I could easily handle it on one of my computers while doing simple things like watching a movie.

B: I imagine there are quite a few out there who illegally downloaded the game this way anyway.

C: Without a legitimate serial number you can't use the DLS. And let's face it, having Trainz without the DLS is like fishing without beer.

Perhaps even some coding could be added to the game where it's freely downloadable, but without a verified serial number it's functionality is severly limited.

Or, you just have to be patient. It's a great game and the wait is worth it.

Got it all downloaded finally and am currently running setup on one monitor and reading the forum on the other. There is nothing like having dual monitors to make it easy to do multiple things at the same time.
