Why are trees disappearing?

In the interests of helping other people avoid the same problem, can you tell us exactly which track was causing the problem, i.e. it's username and kuid number?

Sure, it was M: UltraTrack V2K - Mainline W/ Oil (Black Ties/Light Gray Ballast). There are several of those with very little differences, just the color of the ties or the ballast.

The ballast color will be an issue, but check around. He made a lot of track, I just chose this one as a test since I've used it before. Speaking of JR track, did you check their new track by SimulatorTrain? It's done very nicely and it has the white-colored ballast. It's not the same as their old rose colored ballast and has nice track details. I've used this track before with good results as well.

By the way, John do you happen to have the link to SimulatorTrain? tks

For completeness, I am using the SAM track and I downloaded a bunch of textures from the DLS.
Can you see in the picture where the border of track is? nice match, I like it a lot when I have the matching texture for the track. :)

I use this track all the time for most of my routes. I also like his rusty track too as that's great for old quarries and sidings.

For the SimulatorTrain track, check the track on Jointed Rail's website in case you're looking for something.

Again and again, trees disappearing :( My map really improved after changing the track type. A while ago I was adding some texturing when I noted that the trees were gone. I enabled showing performance data in surveyor and here is the picture. I don't know how to analyze the numbers, how bad or so so is something. I see that the highest count is 378,000 for an item 'powerline' kuid2:42884:37031:1, what is the threshold to declare a bad asset? What is that number 5'261,565for worst script library? Humm, signal.gs, I am using Safetran signals....this is driving me crazy, any ideas?

I used this method once to find out why assets were disappearing, but what I changed didn't fix the problem.

All I can say is make a copy of your map and try changing the power lines to something else and see if that helps. Splines can be quite a drag on the system and cause the trees to disappear. There are lots of power lines out there. Check out those that begin with LEP. They look really cool and are very American even though they're Russian.

Does this problem happen in any particular area? This could be some asset in that region such as those oil rigs, for example. They might be a bit too high poly and cause the simulator to limit the graphics load. I had this last night on my own big route. I had some old factory buildings cause all my trees to disappear. I ended up pulling those out and everything came back to life.

Need to be looking at Worst Buffer Count and not worst Index Count, virtually everything has high Index counts. The powerline buffer count is only 13 so that is probably not going to be the problem. Any worst buffer count over 100 is going to be a possible problem.
