Why are trees disappearing?

I can't figure out why Ultratrees and Pofig's trees are disappearing from both surveyor and drive modes. I checked them for errors and no one is faulty. If I save the map and reload it again then all trees show up again. Then when in driver no trees. It is so annoying, can you please give some advise?

thanks

This is due to a draw limit in place that is triggered by badly crafted assets so they don't crash the simulator and can be triggered by using the old flip board and baseboard trees as well as some other really old assets. I'd inspect that area of your route carefully and see what's in there that might cause the problem.

Just a thought but what build of TS12 are you on? There was an issue with trees or lack of them on one of the builds if I remember correctly?

TS12, build 61388

Thats blown that idea out of the water then as 61388 is OK with Trees.

Have a look at jetlog.txt the one in the TS12 folder after running your route and see if there are any warnings or errors relating to SpeedTrees, they usually have a kuid and somthing along the lines of failed to load shaders branches etc. Check a few times and if the same ones keep comming up remove them from the route. I had issues with a few Trees causing problems, no problems after deleting them and avoiding them in future.

I'm hoping not as well, but it's something that needs to be checked (if only to eliminate the possibility)...

I was thinking the same. Jose sent me his email address and I'll try a copy of his route when he gets it to me. Hopefully it's nothing more than bad content that's causing this.

I know what you mean John. At least I've got a tutorial on my site that can help the OP deal with this if it is the other issue I think it may be (worst buffer count over 100).

On its way route and session. I hope you would decipher what's going on with those trees.

Got your route and I'm chasing the missing dependencies:

Unknown Location: <kuid:478639:100078>
Unknown Location: <kuid:478639:100079>

Update:

Replace your track with something else. There's nothing wrong with the trees as I use the same on my routes and have not had that issue other than when badly crafted assets are used.

The trees took forever to load as the system took forever to display them then disappeared as I moved along in Surveyor. I replaced the track with SAM track SAM Track - III/B class 3 v1 LOW <kuis:132952:100402:2> and the trees loaded nearly instantly and remained through out the route. I used this before for long stretches of track with good results. There are other tracks you can try if you wish.

Nice job you're doing, by the way. Your route will look really nice when it's completed.

Reading your opinion on my map makes me more enthusiastic to continue working on it. Thanks for your comment. Some day I'd retire and have more time to play Trainz if ever this game gets really stable and reliable.
I'd try the SAM track. I was using Jointedrail tracks, they look so nice however I prefer track of whitish color, closer to clear ballast, I don't like dark colors like dark brown.

The ballast color will be an issue, but check around. He made a lot of track, I just chose this one as a test since I've used it before. Speaking of JR track, did you check their new track by SimulatorTrain? It's done very nicely and it has the white-colored ballast. It's not the same as their old rose colored ballast and has nice track details. I've used this track before with good results as well.

Keep working on your route. When you feel it's too much, don't give up instead take a break and dive back in again. Creating things takes a lot of effort mentally which can be very draining and even frustrating at times. I've been working on one big route since December 2003. I've rebuilt sections over time as I've improved them, even replaced them completely because my building techniques have gotten better. The route, though still not done in some places, is very drivable and I'll occasionally setup some driving sessions not only to test the route, but also to just enjoy my efforts. I see you've done the same with your session. It helps check things out as you move along.

Yeah! my trees are back!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D with the new track. This forum is awesome and the people we find here are very helpful. Thanks to John.

In the interests of helping other people avoid the same problem, can you tell us exactly which track was causing the problem, i.e. it's username and kuid number?

I use this game to keep me out of the real world, I am a very bad tv viewer and I have the habit of bringing home the computer programs I write in my office every day, often I go to bed still programming in my mind. For me playing the game 1 or 2 hrs in the evening switches off my mind and I can rest better. I'll try also SimulatorTrain for other tracks.
