does TRS2004 precede TRS Ultimate Collection as my Trs2004 doesnt say it is Vista compatible but my Ultimate Collection does?

Hi there,
In my set of Ultimate Collection disks the TRS2004 one was included. I also had a separate TRS2004 disk I had bought earlier. Didn't you get one in your's? It will be as compatible with Vista as any of the others in the set.

Cheers
Russell.

There are two products with similar names here.

Trainz Ultimate Collection (commonly called 'UTC') is the version previous to TRS2004 (older than 04).

The second product, called 'Trainz Collection' is a collection of UTC, TRS04, TRS06, and the 4 Trainz routes packs.

I would recommend TRS2004 out of those two, seeing as it is the newer version.

My Trainz Ulitmate Collection pack contained 2 discs. One was the trainz sim itself the other contained Paint shed and a patch and a service pack update.

My TRS2004 pack also contained 2 discs.

Problem is I now run TRS 2004 but it does not state on the box that it is Vista compatible. However my Trainz Ultimate Collection is Vista compatible as it says so on the back of the box.

Would I be able to run my TRS2004 on my Vista PC ( even though the TRS2004 only states XP ) by using the compatibility wizard Program on my new PC.?

Thanks for the info thus far.

TRS2004 can be installed under Vista have a search in the forum on how to do this.

TS2009 might be an easier way to go. Have a look here and see if you can work out which version you have. Note UTC is pre practically everything so is unlikely to be Vista aware.

http://www.auran.com/auran/store/ TS2009 digital download in US $ is a very reasonable way to go.

i was runnning ultimate pack on vista for a while and gave up because the vista Nvidia drivers kept restarting their 'services' and crashing Tr 06
however i have run 06 and 09 flawlessy on win7 beta and rc1

And your point is?

TRS2006 once you get above a certain build number is Vista aware as is TS2009 and is a later version of Trainz than either of the programs we appear to be discussing here. That is to say they can be run under a normal user account and do not require special access rights to write anything to the registry. I seem to recall the initial release of TRS2006 would not run correctly under a user account in even in XP because it wanted to write to a registry value and needed to be run in an Admin level account.

TRS2004 was produced before Vista but has been made to run under Vista there are instructions floating round the forum somewhere.

UTC is even older than TRS2004 and I'm uncertain if anyone has even bothered to get it running under Vista.

Win 7 can use Vista drivers so anything that runs under Vista should run under Win 7 but until it is finally released no one can say one way or the other however I wouldn't anticipate any problems.

I recently bought a new PC with Vista 64-bit and have TRS2004, TRS2006, and TC 2.7 installed and running with no compatability or other problems whatsoever.
