hi, i was wondering where do i find my created route on my pc .e.g c:/program files/trains simulator 2009/blablabla..... cus i cant find it :(

thx

I believe you will find it in the 09 Local folder, in one of the hash- files. That seem to be where all the content is stored. There are a lot of hash files to look through, and I don't know any way to norrow it down. Maybe someone reading this, could shed some light on the subject. Hope this helps.

It is in your local files encoded...There is nothing really to see there, just 4 files (map, gnd, texture, and config).

All you need to do is save your route as a CDP on a DVD/CD Disk, Memory Stick, or External Hard Drive. That CPD file is your route.

The way you'll really only see your route is to go through CM2. With this you can then open for edit in Explorer if you want to see the content in the folder.

Why would you want to do this? You risk damaging things unless you move carefully.

If you want to back it up, you can easily copy it to a CDP right in CM2. I do this all the time to backup my route just in case something goes poof on me.

You can't find the route on the hard drive because it is encrypted.

To find it launch Trainz then choose 'Content' from the menu. Once the Content Manager (CM2) opens click the 'My Content' tab. Your route will be in the list. If you are trying to locate it to save a copy, either right-click and Save to CDP which will put a compressed file on your desktop or choose Edit > Explorer and copy from the pop-up window...

Conventional terms

CMP = Content Manager Plus (list the built in and local assets with some details and allows listing dependent assests and other stuff including editing config files.) Opened from the CONTENT choice in the launch window or by using ContentManager.exe

The above term and many others are detailed in paragraph 4 of the TS2006 Manual (TS2009\Extras\Documentation) which also applies to TS2009.

CM2 is a 2009 term = Content Manager 2 (why not CM9:confused: ?)

I am an ex Bell System engineer and a stickler for using documentation.

I saved my route to a CDP but when I import it on a different machine it tells me that it doesn't have the map when I try to open it in surveyor. How can I ensure that the save has put everything required in the file?

That error message usually means that the machine you transferred the route to doesn't have the same build number of the program. I know that in TRS2006, routes created in TRS2006 SP1 will give that error when you try to use the route on TRS2006 without SP1.

I initially started creating the route with an early version of Trainz but it ported into TRS 2009 and I have done further editing in 2009. I saved it to CDP out of a TRS 2009 on one machine and tried to import to TRS 2009 on another. I am trying to transfer off an old machine to a new machine.

I am wondering whether I need to do some editing on the original system to ensure that all the dependencies are there.
