Sorry I haven't replied , I've had a busy weekend but will be taking all these steps later. In addition I will manually save every 30 minutes. Personally I don't have a 3rd party antivirus because I used to have one years ago and it caused all kinds of problems, especially relating to Trainz.

When I have an app that freezes, sometimes you can "bump" it a little using the Priority setting. To get to that, go into Task Manager and find the stuck app. RIGHT-click on it and choose "Go to Details." Once in the Details tab, RIGHT-click again and choose "Set Priority." Sometimes, you can cause the stuck app to come alive again by UPPING the priority one notch. Once it's going again, return the priority to Normal.

Sometimes it helps to turn Off OS Fullscreen Optimization for TRS19.exe which is enabled by default for all games.
Right-click on TRS19.exe to start without Fullscreen Optimization.
Click on the Properties option from the right-click context menu.
Select the Compatibility option.
In the Settings section, check the Disable fullscreen optimizations option.
and also NVIDIA Control Panel in the section “Adjusting the size and position of the desktop”, in the drop-down list, select “graphics processor” instead of “display”
and check “Substitution the scaling mode specified for games and programs”, as indicated here by two arrows:

Well it happened again after 2 hours work. I tried prioritising it in Task Manager to no avail. Restarted my PC only to see it do a database repair and after 25 minutes watching it do that I decided to shut my PC down and get on with my life. Do some shopping open it up again and as usual I am offered the lottery of Use/Revert Changes. Since Revert Changes wiped out my work last time, this time I click Use Changes and it wipes out my work.
