What's N3V working on?

Just about every day I see an image from the Kuju with something new their working on in my Facebook wall. Cryptic Studios (makes my other game I play, Star Trek Online), while yes it's an MMO & slightly different, post practically weekly "Tweet Leaks" showing stuff they're working on. But N3V doesn't really let us know anything about future developments & such.

It got me wondering; 'What's N3V working on?' We haven't seen any really news about new stuff since the Aerotrain.

I am thinking a British DLC pack. Yea basically like a month before release its bam, we got this new DLC coming out.

hert:wave:

@ Justin - I was running through this thread and hert's banner snagged me.... tried to go to JR - is your site down for maintenance?

N3V is working on counting money they make from freeware creators. :p

Seriously, it's not Kuju anymore, they got out of the trainsim business. Railsim/Railworks was passed down the line from Kuju to RSDL to "Railsimulator.com LTD", which is a strange name for a company that no longer makes Rail Simulator since they now call it Railworks. And they make zillions of addons because they don't have the first clue how to fix the unfinished code they inherited from Kuju.

N3V is doing this right, focus on the core programming of the game itself, if the game itself works right the freeware content creators will come and the end result is more addons than the company could ever crank out.

At this point in the cycle, I would expect they are working on the next release of the game, but rest assured that whatever it is it will please some and rankle others.:)

I think they make just enough to cover costs/overhead/pay employees ... etc ...

Thank your luck stars we have Auran/N3V and Trainz ... without them we would be playing Wailworks, or Atari-Pong/Missle Command.:hehe:

I would hope there's some profit in there somewhere! If not, then I question the business acumen of the boys at the top.

Pete,
I think it would be pretty fair to assume that they are working on the next version of Trainz, (and possibly/probably a service pack, or two) assuming they are still making money from Trainz.
I'm sure the CEO of N3V is closely monitoring whether "Trainz" is still a profitable part of their business. Hopefully Trainz's is N3V biggest earner, keeping in mind that it is only a part of business. What percentage, I have know idea!!!

One of the reasons a lot of software companies delay announcing that a new version is coming out in say; 3 months, 6 months, or whatever, is because as soon as they announce a further new version release date, sales of the existing version/s plummet.
That's because a lot of people end up saying, hey, I'll just now wait for the new version, which is coming in 3 or 6 months, (or whatever date they announce) rather than upgrade to the current latest...

I'm sure Auran would have learn't that lesson back in the early to mid 2000's...

Cheers, Mac...

What I'm wondering is if the next version of Trainz will use the benefits of the multicore processor.

This information would be VERY USEFULL when we are planning to upgade the PC. Or we buy the fastest CPU in a double or four core Processor, or we care less about the cpu if trainz use the benefit of the ''Multi''....

Well, if you upgrade to a multi-core processor and Trainz does not take advantage, will it run any worse? I tend to doubt it!:)

Well... if you follow the mode of thinking I did on my last upgrade (3x 2.9Ghz is faster than 1x 3.2) then yes it does and your screwed:hehe:

Well, there seems to be an extension to the left of the TS12 stop on our station list, so one can only wonder what they're up to. If they follow the rest of current [American] media.. Trainz 3D might be on the horizon!
