What Train Engines do you usally see in your town/city?

In my town it's mostly Providence & Worcester B39-8s, U23Bs, GP38/40s, but sometimes I get lucky and see a CSX locomotive, or an ex susquehanna locomotive.

Could you post a pic of the Super-7, for some reason I think it looks like the rail runner.

All Super7 locos have the common GE aspect.

Not that much of a variety, but that's what I got.

I live in New Zealand and mainly see EF class locomotives. With the occasional DSC. Will try and post pics.

Just about everything third-generation that CSX and NS have,
Most of their second-generation models,
some leased 2nd-generation locos,
If I'm lucky some UP or BNSF 3rd-generation locos,
If I'm downtown at the right time, a pair of P32's (guess who...)
And if I'm in Calera at the museum, then two SW8's, a Whitcomb 30-ton, a Crown 2' gague 4-4-0 (propane-fired),
And three H12-44's, an SW1, a USRA 0-6-0, a 1919 Baldwin 2-8-0, and a couple of other switchers we have in the yard that don't work.
Oh, and some guy's Alco C-something that he wanted us to store for him (go figure)

I see lots.....

Numerous lower HP diesels, SD70's, 80's, and 90's, GEVO, Dash 8 & 9, I have seen every diesel in UP's heritage series, and when they are running, 844 and 3985 around 5 or 6 times a year.

Through Desborough on a regular basis are HST's,Meridians, Class 31,Class 37,Class 47, Class 60, Class 66 & Class 67.

RP40-2Cs, RP39-2Cs, F40s, and the occasional F59PHI. I take the Virginia Railway Express home from school so I see these all the time; they have some really old equipment. Other than that, mostly CSX and NS units with large amounts of garbage and/or orange juice in tow. Washington D.C. has some weird trains going through it.

okies, primarily P42s occasionally an F40. Also occasionally a couple GP38-2s, and the occasionally NS auto train (I haven't seen yet soI can't say what engine is on it)

I'm sorry, I totally forgot to mention all the OTHER stuff that goes by randomly!

Just yesterday, I saw an Amtrak TALGO set on the rails again for the first time in a while, looks like they fixed them. Also, I often see BNSF Dash 9's, Dash 8's, ES44DC's, GP38-2's and similar GP's (can anyone say GP29-E?), a single SD9-3 (odd odd odd!), and the occaisional MP15DC/SW1500.

I also see UP stuff all over the place, SD9043MAC-H's (that has got to be the single longest number/name of a diesel EVER), SD70MAC's, SD50's, SD60's, and once I saw the single remaining DD40AX on an excursion...MASSIVE! LOVE IT! XD

Oh, and a bunch of other Amtrak stuff, plus the Bombardier "Sounder" commuter trains.

Also, for some odd reason, BNSF has a CSX Dash 9-44CW idling in their Balmer yard just down the hill from where I live...it's been there for months now, always running but never moving!

No new equipment in my area. MBTA F40s pulling Horizon cars, Amtrak Cabbage with an MBTA F40 at the other end (Downeaster), and PAR blue and black or Guilford Gray and Orange GP40-2s, and occasional GP-9 pulling freights.

Montreal, Maine & Atlantic

*Click on the photo to watch the video!

A Montreal, Maine & Atlantic scheduled 46-car freight moves West from Springfield Terminal and crosses Station Road in Etna, Maine during a beautiful Autumn Saturday afternoon on former Bangor & Aroostook rails.

MEC-#374 is former NS-#1349, a high-nose EMD GP40. MEC-#319 is former CR-#3213 short-nose EMD GP40. Both 3000hp units are in phase II paint.

This consist and motive power is typical of the traffic seen on this line, which passes behind my home a short distance to the East. The vast majority of trains pass through town at night. Sectional rail, some of which sits on wood ties dating as far back as 1926, limits speed to around 25mph on a good day.

The video was taken from my dashcam on Oct 20 2007.

I'm in Belgrade, MT along the Montana Rail Link.

MRL Power:
Mostly SD70ACe's and SD40/SD45's for mainline traffic
Two GP35's manage the local switching
-MRL also still operates F45's, SD9's, GP-9's and a variety of other "recycled" units

BNSF thru-traffic:
SD60/70's (all models)
SD40's
AC4400's and/or Dash-9's
an occasional GP60b or SD??b (yes, I mean b-units)

The full rainbow of BNSF colours. We also see a lot of Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern locomotives mixed in on BNSF trains. Other visiting roads I noted are: Canadian National, Ferromex and CSX. The Livingston rebuild center is only about 50 miles away, which probably accounts for much of the variation here.

Where did you see it? we had Railroad days not to long ago in dunsmuir and the DD40 unit being the longest 8 axle loco made, nd it was farily long. I have seen it a t portola (thats its home) on the fether river canyon along with the kady wye bridge. we did see an alaskan road baggage car.

question? where does that car go? there isn't any track connecte with alaska is there?

I saw the DD40AX right here in Seattle!

FYI, the DD40AX and its predecessor the DD35 series were the ONLY 8-axle diesels to have any great success. In fact, I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think they may have been the only 8-axle locos.

Never say never, as I'm sure there are some forum members aready trawling the web and their libraries for another 8-axle diesel.:hehe:
