What music do you listen to while playing Trainz?

Depends on mood!

I like my European Metal, so often its some happy Power metal type stuff but other times progressive rock, marillion upto modern stuff like Porcupine Tree.. then some Post rock..
http://www.last.fm/user/Davie_UCF <-- All I listen to ends up here, but sadly it doesn't say when Trainz was also running!

But if i'm testing AI schedules and path control which takes an hour or more until theres an issue I have to try fix, then start again.. I don't listen to music I use this time to practice guitar while it runs in the background :) Pretty sorted here!

Black Eyed Peas and Fergie

or sometimes just the TV

I just uploaded some vids to YouTube and the background was the TV !!! Have to make them again LOL

sometimes I listen to any type of rap and R&B music but when I'm working on the railroad in surveyor and driving a steam engine in driver mode, the only music I like to listen to is the sound of a steam engine.;)

like Dave, I don't listen to music; in fact, the ONLY thing I listen to is Trainz. I LIKE to hear the hum of the engine, the moan of its whistle, the buzz of the sawmill, the pounding of metal on metal at the steel mill, the carousel music of the carnival...

Any of the old RocknRollers like Elvis, Eddy Cochrane, Chuck Berry, Gene Vincent, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Pitney, Little Richard, Dion, The Platters etc. I have these artists on several 4 GB USB memory sticks on my USB input HiFi so I can play them continuous while enjoying my Trainz. I get some 500 MP3 songs on a single USB stick.

Cheers

While driving...the traction and track sound effects.

Route building either power metal (not the very heavy stuff though) or ModBritProgRock (as I term it!) like Mostly Autumn or Karnataka.

Oh wow.
Karnataka were great, with Rachel Jones and Anne Marie Helder anyway,
I've not heard the new stuff.. same with Mostly Autumn, not heard the past few years album but loved the earlier stuff!

What kinda power metal?
Seems we have two genres in common !

Normally I have my tunes on random so it can be one of hundreds of electro, metal, classical, alternative, goth grebo music. If my wife is watching Nigella Lawson cookery programmes, anything will do to drown out the sanctimonious, gushing, food-related waffle that streams endlessly from that smug mouth of hers. Nigella's mouth that is!

Good that you clarified this! Very important to make that distinction... :D

Manfred and son and Plan B at the mo, I love the way rootsy music played by proper musicians is climbing its way into popular music again.

Pink Floyd
Aphex Twin
Massive Attack
Faithless
am also going through a bit of an early 90's rave revival
and most 80's stuff coz I was young then and I'm a bassist if you hadn't gussed and most 80s stuff is very bass guitar driven.

I generaly like any band that's pushed the boundaries of music the only trouble is that you don't know who is pushing the boundaries until the new genre is a few years old.

mostly country, usually train-related songs, or Disturbed. but, like many others in this thread, only in surveyor. but if i do listen to music in driver, it's only the country stuff. ya know, "Casey Jones" "Steel Rails," that lot.
