Two movies from the 70's used Colorado's Great Western engine #75, a 2-8-0 Consolidation purchased by the GWR in 1907. GWR was one of the last US railroads to keep steam engines on there active roster during the busy autumn months of the sugar beet campaigns.

Frisco Kid - A 1978 comedy starring Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford.
The train scenes used #75 and was filmed near the Windsor / Severance Colorado areas along the GWR Eaton branch, used to service the local sugar beet dumps . For this movie, #75 was fitted with an over sized smoke stack to give it a late 1800's look.

The Professionals - A Lee Marvin western also using GWR's #75, covered with grime especially for this movie.

Intense episode, involving an urban legend that says an engineer went insane and derailed his train, supposedly driving it to the 'Fiery Underworld', as it is referred to. Very good episode though.

I watched Goal this morning, and there's footage of a GNER 225 speeding north along the ECML taking the football (soccer) player to Newcastle for his trial at Newcastle United.

Has anyone seen the animated movie "Bolt"? They have a nice scene in there with a CSX freight train! Very realistic.

Plains, Trains & Automobiles...the best comedy of its time, still one of my favorites and its a family tradition...we watch it every Thanksgiving!

The movie Flashback with Dennis Hopper and Keifer Sutherland, and of course Throw Momma From the Train! Poor old Momma, that was a mean looking little old lady.

What happened to Extreme Trains? It wasn't the best, but it was pretty good and had alot of info on modern operations.

Modern Marvels had a rail episode with the huge BNSF yard featured.

There is a show I just found called Trains and Locmotives which is on a weird little channel called RFD. It mostly seems like a public access channel for farmers. The Trains and Locomotives show had some great transition era footage though, and the sound on much of it was impressive. That channel also has a vintage farm tractor show too. Aside from their beautiful restorations, those old guys should not be on TV.
