{qoute}And did anyone notice it was numbered "A113"? I've seen that number in Toy Story and The Incredibles, so it must mean something...{/qoute}

Yep, from wikipedia

A113 (Sometimes A-113 or A1-13) is an inside joke present as an Easter egg in animated films created by alumni of CalArts, referring to the classroom number used by Character animation students at the school. Brad Bird first used it for a license plate number in the Amazing Stories episode "Family Dog." It has since appeared in other Disney and Pixar movies. A = 113

Bird has said "I put it into every single one of my films, including my Simpsons episodes—it's sort of my version of Hirschfeld's "Nina"."[1]

The original classroom A113 is currently being used as the first year graphic design studio.

Toy Story - License plate number on Andy's Mom's minivan
A Bug's Life - Code on cereal box as Flik enters the bug city.
Toy Story 2 - Airport announcement for "LassetAir Flight A113", also a reference to director John Lasseter.
Monsters, Inc. - Sign seen in the background when Sulley sees Smitty and Needleman loading the trash compactor.
Finding Nemo - Model code on camera used by scuba diver.
The Incredibles - Room number in Syndrome's lair. Also, the prison level where Mr. Incredible is held is "Level A1" in Cell # 13: A1 & 13
Cars - Mater's license plate. Also the number of the railway train which almost crashes into Lightning McQueen while he is on his way to Radiator Springs.
Ratatouille - Git, the lab rat, has a tag on his left ear that reads, "A113".
WALL-E - Turn the E backwards in WALL-E's name and get W(A113).

Fixed. :hehe:

And no, but I wish I had.

Juno, apparently had a mixed freight in the background of one of the shots.
And in Secondhand Lion, there's a wonderfully temporally correct hopper train rolling past when they go to get feed. :hehe: :o
Yes I saw that documentary about GCT.
And as for the train in Juno, yes there was,I saw the movie, not great, but certainly better than sitting in school:hehe: I know what your wondering why I skipped school to see it,no worries it was a field trip:hehe: :hehe:

Train Wreck tonight on "Shockwave"

9 PM EST
History Channel
Show Name "Shockwave"
One of several wrecks listed is a train in Oklahoma involving a tank car sent some distance from the wreck. Looks to be a tank train with fuel and load spills and explosions.

in the music video for Bruce springsteen's song "long walk home" in the opening seconds you see a CSX mixed freight train.

An oldie, The General (1927) starring Buster Keaton.
"Johnnie loves his train ("The General") and Annabelle Lee. When the Civil War begins he is turned down for service because he's more valuable as an engineer. Annabelle thinks it's because he's a coward. Union spies capture The General with Annabelle on board. Johnny must rescue both his loves."

Here's a link to the streaming video of the movie (yes, it is legal).

greatest rail adventure makes a rare appearance on the discovery channel, its not a series but its a show on the (cnr, but now via) Canadian.did anyone know that the first train robbery in Canada was in Mission, BC?(supposedly)

an episode of the sand(1994 edition), ther are some possible bay window cabooses in the backround. (this takes place afte rthe robbing of the old store)

several episodes of the old animated cartoon show "Transformers" had trains in them.. in fact one of the bad guys transformed into a steam locomotive.

Just hired and watched the DVD of John Frankenheimer's "The Train". First time I've seen it since I was 10! :hehe:

It stands up to time surprisingly well and there were only a very few "railway blunders" that I could spot. The biggest cause for concern and historical accuracy was the Wehrmacht running around in American half tracks and armoured cars but never mind; it's quite a challenge for the film maker to produce accurate props for that period. ;)

Some lovely bits of old French railway equipment though.

Cheers

One that has been mentioned before was "End of the Line" with Wilford Brimley and Levon Helm. They were railroad men before the company decided to abandon rail operations for air freight?.?.? The two of them "stole" an ex-Mopac GP38 and ran it to Chicago with little bits of trouble along the way. Neat thing about this movie is that all of the cab scenes feature Brimley or Helm actually running the locomotive! Brimley is a brakeman, while Helm is a car inspector("I knock cars!") Not the greatest movie I've ever seen, but worth a few bucks to rent or buy if you've not seen it!

Another name that's been mentioned many times is "Silver Streak". I'm assuming most of you are referring to Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor's 1976 hit. How many of you have seen the original "Silver Streak" from 1934? This b&W film features a shovelnose CB&Q Pioneer Zephyr making a FAST run from Chicago to Boulder Dam to deliver an Iron Lung to a worker who was in need of it. I really liked this movie, much more than other "train" movies of the past. Lot's of steam footage and early fast speed special effects. I would recommend this to any fan of the rails. Starts a little slow...

I watched a movie called True Romance a few weeks ago. There is a scene by a railyard in Detroit that features an NS GP38 and a "platform"(flatcar with railings on it) moving back and forth for no apparent reason while the scene was filmed.

Now, I have a question for you all... I have heard of a mid-late 70's made for TV movie that features a runaway Amtrak train. I guess near the end it's only a light engine and the track gang cuts the rails and bends them into a field. The locomotive is said to flip several times!!! I have not seen it, or have any idea of a title. Has anyone any info on this?

That'd be THE Pioneer Zephyr, IIRC. :)

Also: Secondhand Lions was on the other night and there's a (modern) hopper train in one of the shots when they go into town (to get lion food, maybe?).
