This is a very long shot. I saw a film that featured the liverpool overhead railway. Can't remember who was in it ,what it was called, or what it was about. only seen it once about 30 years ago. Would great to see it again, anyone know what it's called?

Ah, the old Docker's Umbrella, a great shelter from the rain, ta be shure.
Well, here's a partial list of movies made in Liverpool during the '50' - '60's.
Waterfront 1950
Violent Playground 1957
Ferry Cross the Mersey 1965
Dangerous Youth 1957
Beyond This Place 1959
The Little Ones 1965 (a CFF Film)

Good list of liverpool films Casy j . The overhead closed on 30 th december 1956 , so the best bet's would be, beyond this place, violent playground or waterfront. waterfront seems the best bet .As for tv shows has anyone here seen, Oh Dr Beeching a BBC ''comedy'' 1990's or the documentaries ,trains by pete waterman , industrial reverlations,by mark williams or world of steam by the late great fred Dibnah

In every NASCAR race from Bristol, TN, there is the obligitory shot of a freight train moving outside the wall of the speedway. Does this count??? It just proves you can see trains everywhere!!!

Here's a few:

XXX: State of the Union
Tightrope (Clint Eastwood)
The Untouchables -- I believe this had some trains in it, and let's not forget the famous shoot-out in Chicago Union Station.
And, my personal favorite: most of one episode of the cop comedy Sledge Hammer!, "Comrade Hammer," took place on board a train. As I recall, these were the requisite Santa Fe warbonnets. One illogical point: the train allegedely includes a stock car that was accidentally coupled to the train, and the cast can pass through it. However, in the show's defense, this is done for the sake of comedy.

Don't think anyone mentioned this one yet.
Ghost Rider. Scenes with trains are: Scene where he first turns into Ghost Rider (IIRC) in the railway sheds (truck runs into a locomotive, which is an L class electric), plus a panning scene which includes the following: VR D3 639/658 (steam), R 761 (steam), R766 (I think, steam loco anyways), plus various rolling stock including a historic 6 wheel pass car.

Okay, I've read every page of this thread, and have not seen these yet:

The Episode of "Firefly" named The Train Job, where the crew of Serenity must rob a train.

The animated movie "Everyone's Hero" has many trains in it...all steamers, and a hilarious sequence where the William H. Macy character is running on top of a passenger train, dodging signals and bridges. It's really worth renting just for that!
