What may be the cause of a computer restarting?

What do people think about using Verbartim (spell?), Imation, or Memorex brand DVD+/-R discs for backing up?

Any of these would be OK, I would suggest RWs though, as you can then re-use them. The only problem is that standard size DVDs can only hold 4.7GB, and the backups may well be over 20GB for some people!

While I can't sleep at the moment, but I hate to say this Big_b, but you can buy single layered Panasonic RAMs for $5 at a well known electrical shop, so that works out $5 cheaper.

But I don't really like TDK - We have our reasons!

Any help with these?

1. Sometimes a dialog box comes up with a "non-critical error" when copying. Is that anything important, or can it be generally ignored?

2. Is their really any need to use "Verifying data" option? (Only asking because it more than doubles the time)

3. Also is it advisable not to use other programs while copying to DVD?

1. This is important as it could mean corrupted data.

2. This is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the process. It guarantees that all of the data as been copied fully and correctly.

3. There should be no problem using other programs, as long as they are not too resource-hungry.

Haven't got time to fix up any spellig errors, if any

Anyway to solve this at all, but if it had a message of a non-critical error, how come the verifying data showed successfully at the end?

Almost forget, does it matter if you use a proper back up, or just a copy?

Have you simply thought of buying a new more reliable computer?

Cheerio John

Backup or copy makes no difference, and as for the non-critical error, I only said that it COULD mean corrupted data.

What does the error actually say?

[FRUSTRATED MODE] Okay that does it [/FRUSTRATED], it keeps starting - usually while we're copying/backing up files! :'( :'(

Okay, okay

All I remember is that they stated "non-critical errors". But I know it wasn't the normal SEND / DON'T SEND error box. (I think I may have attempted a screenshot of it, but gave up when that didn't work!)
