What makes a train work?

Hello all! First of all merry Christmas, second of all I am creating a train route and was considering putting a locomotive on display but i don't know how to make it not operable. Just a static display. Can you help me out?

I think you have to clone the loco to your own UserID and then change the "train" or "traincar" type to something like "Building" or Scenery". There may be more to it than that, like removing smoke effects or something, but that would be a start.

Can you help me out?

I have converted a fully operating steam loco into a "dead" one for placement at a repair workshop or for display in a park. The loco can still move (but not under its own power) and does not produce any smoke or steam.
