what made you like trains?

Besides of the look, power, reliability, it was and it is one of the best way of connecting people!:) Train is the future! Much oppositte what people thought few years ago!:) gas prices on the rising, trains wil become again number 1 ways of transportation in the world again:p . I love it!

From my earliest memories, I was surrounded by models of old war planes, HO and Lionel Trains. My dad brought home a Marklin HO electric train set from Germany that was incredible. The industrial scene on the box with a steam driven freight train had me in awe. I wish I still had it!

Thomas rekindled the old flame when my son was born in the 1990's.

how did it smell i was born in 1995.so i cant tell the smell from the old times

Damn I thought I was young. Anyway I love trains because I grew up on the NYC Subway basically. I live next door to the L train. No joke, I can walk to 105th Street in under 30 seconds. I had so many experiences on the subway. I broke my jaw on the subway, I got my first kiss on the subway, I meet the love of my life on the subway, and I left the subway to live in Marlboro NJ. I hate it here!!! The nearest train station is 15 miles away in Matawan.

I have 2 theories. One I whached Back to the future 3 so many times I broke the tape and the Train just astounded me and the rest is history, or I do have a confesion to make in the next theory I have Asburgers Syndrome (AS) and we lived near the railroad up untill just recently and one of the symptomes/signs of AS is an unusual obsession over one thing that can change from time to time, For me my base is trains, and it has swiched from paper airplanes, to the Titanic, and it has always some how got back into the railroad. but this also carries with it a social disability in my case it is very mild I can some times go into this hypnotic state and be completlly oblivious to another persons boardom over the subject and I have lost many pottental friends over this and I still consider it a blessing and not a curse, because I would not see me disliking trains for any reason at anytime not even if it killed me or a relitive it is a phiscal and phyicalogical part of my being.

you might almost say i was born in a switchtower, so its sortof in my blood.

i wasn't quite, litterally, but they were always the most interesting thing in my childhood, visiting my dad where he worked at the station or tower, as often and as much of my time as i possibly could. always fascinated by little things that move under their own power too.

and you could say i started railfanning in that sense, in 1949, when i was one year old.

I grew up around trains, both my father and uncle were very into large ho/n-scale layouts in their basements while in Maryland. Even in Florida and Alaska, two places Ive called home, Ive lived very near busy lines and have spent a lot of time watching and working with them.

I do not remember this, but I have heard this story over and over again. My first real encounter with trains was when I was 1 1/2 yrs old and my dad, mom and myself entered a toy store. While my mom and dad were doing something I was playing with the wooden Thomas the Tank Engine train table. When it was time to go I didn't want to leave. At Christmas I recieved my first toy train set. From then on trains have been my life. My dream is to work for the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer.

I started out with Thomas the Tank Engine when I very young, then it moved to LEGO trains. I tried out a little model railroading in HO scale but it proved to be expensive and took up a lot of space. Now I usually stick with Trainz.

I love trains cause I was born in Manhattan and was raised in NYC. Everyday I would hear the 7 train run by on the elevated. So ever since I've loved trains:)( first ride was on the 7 train, I think about few months old. ) Also cuz of Thomas, many thanks to the maker, now I still love trains, now in virtual styles(trainz)

i really don't know.

i think it was that marklin layout that got ME into trains

i started liking trainz when i saw a bunch of youtube videos of it.

i love standing at a level crossing on a high speed line, as the train flies past at 100mph+, being within a few of feet of it. also just like being around trains :p

Born in a house by the mainline...

If you were born in a house by the mainline of the Penn Central with trains rolling by every 15 minutes then you can sleep through anything.

I started liking trains around one years old. I had grew up around the Midsouth Railroad with the GP10s,CF7s,GP20s,and GP9s. Then some time in the 1990s KCS had bought Midsouth and then my love for the KCS began. I had heard my first K5LA on a white ghost scheme GP38 that is in the gray scheme now. Pretty much then my love for trains grew. Then around 2004 the KCS had moved out and WAMX stepped in a started the Louisiana Southern Railroad we still a few KCS GP38s with a K5LA and a RS5T,but soon they were gone.
