What is The Difference Between Railroad Simulator and Trainz12

Hi,

I looked for an answer and got confused. Can someone explain the difference between Railroad Simulator powered by Trainz 12 and Trainz Simulator 12. I did look to try and find an answer before posting.. I am sorry if this has already been answered.

I have the Railroad Simulator Version of Trainz 2012, and it's the same as the one from Auran.

There really is no difference, except in which option you choose for Trainz 12 in the drop-down list when registering your serial number at Planet Auran.

As long as the TS12 Boxed Disc, or digital download is not Railworks powered by Steam ... which has a similarly confusing name to N3V TS12.

I guess that brings up my next question.. Why? Trainz 12 is 40.00 and Railroad Simulator Powered by Trainz is 20 but yet they are the same thing??

The Railroad Simulator edition is made by Just trains and N3V, and Trainz 2012 is made by i guess N3V themselves. And you can get the Railroad Simulator edition online on the walmart site, if it's sold in your areas Walmart Site

The 'Railroad Simulator' and 'Railway Simulator' editions of Trainz are published in the US and UK respectively by JustTrains, with the prices then decided on by the retailers and JustTrains (JustTrains set the RRP, but the retailer can still choose what price they sell at). As such, the price of these editions may vary compared to the International Edition in our shop, or other locations. The price may vary between different stores as well.

There is no difference between the Railroad/Railway Simulator editions of TS12, and the 'international' edition in our store, apart from the box art/name and the serial numbers.

I have another question.. I stumbled across a thread where someone had purchased the Railroad Simulator Powered by Trainz 12. He was questioning the differences and someone replied that they may have trouble with the updates and patches? Is this something I need to be concerned with? I know y'all said it was the same, I just want to be sure I am not going to regret not going with Trainz Simulator 12. This is what I found on Amazon.. Is it the right one?

It may, but SP1 and the 3 Hotfixes are supposed to Fix bugs, but they might be what the person was explaining as SP1 and the 3 Hotfixes cause more bugs the other 50% of the time instead of fixing them.

I bought the Just Trainz TS12 from Amazon (because I had a gift certificate) and updated SP1 and the latest hotfix with no problem. As Zec (and others have said in other threads on this forum), the software is identical therefore any problems someone might have had with patching are not related to the Just Trainz purchase.

You'll enjoy it. The Just Trains Edition is the same, and it works for what you pay for it. If you ever need help, just ask someone on the forums.

I have the N3V digital version and the Just Trains Boxed version, they are identical. Got the boxed version as it was on offer in a local store at a price to cheap to ignore. Installed it and patched no problems.
