what does 'ant' mean?

Quite a large number of rolling stock items have a number followed by the letters 'ant'. An example would be

"GB Gondola C&O 31899ant",<kuid:45588:15566>

the 31899 part is presumably the number painted on the gondola, but what does the 'ant' part mean or stand for? I've googled this in a number of ways and now know more about insects than I wanted, but this context evades me.

It is bugging me if you excuse the weak pun

hello,

It has been a long time since I looked at the older "supplied" rolling stock but from the 2004 days, if memory serves, it was a way for developers to distinguish that the rolling stock was industry inabled. In the early builds of 2004 most rolling stock was not industry enabled so a means was needed to show at first glance what was or was not industry enabled.

A lot of the rolling stock with this designation is aliased to other mesh items with an improved config.txt which enabled the car to carry a load.

Hope this helps.

It's a rather bad abbreviation of "animated", I think.

Usually I find the names on those assets are way too long to fit into the Surveyor display box, so I shorten them and I delete the 'ant' in the process. If the rolling stock is industry-enabled, it should have a green tick in the viewer window.

Unfortunately, in the early days of industry enabled rollingstock, the green tick icon was not added by all of the content creators (modifiers?). So, like myself, did not even know it existed for a while. Admittedly, I never submitted my content to the DLS and so do not know if it would have been added in the DLS screening process but do not believe so. The icon, just as with other specialized item, needs to be included in the content folder and referenced in the config.txt but as mentioned, it was not available to some of us.

Thanks to you all

I was concerned that it was a prototype thing that I was ignorant of -- I shall ignore, remove or delete them.

Thanks again
