What do you love about Trainz?

Also a big Surveyor fan over here.

I'm an unashamed Auran defender, AND critic. Prior to Trainz (we're talking 2001 here) I was into Microsoft TS, but always found the route editor intimidating (and I am an IT nerd with 30 yrs of deteriation). When I discovered Trainz I was an instant convert.

These days what I appreciate most is that Trainz still IS. Unlike its short haul competitors, Trainz has gone the distance!

i love trains for one...i love 3d...i enjoy making my own layouts and making my own content....besides all my real n-gauge stuff is in storage....lololol

fatal errors LOL!

The time and effort that all content creators have put in to create some amazing content for all to use .

The ease of use of Trainz , I did not get with MTS or Rail simulator
Trainz is for me the best platform so far from the early days of TRAINZ 1
which I belive was ment to be a model railroading sim,to the excellant TC3.

I just bought trainz world edition 2009 download. I just cannot see how to get started. I don't see a manual or beginner's tutorial even. I would like to design my own steam railway and so could someone direct me to a comprehensive tutorial for beginners. I found the old Microsoft railway game easy enough but I'm rather lost with this.I have loads of memory and high spec pc so I should be able to make something decent.

Found the manual

I know I'm only running UTC, but all I have say positive about Trainz can be summed up in one word! BVE!

It's nice to be able to step out of the box and interact with everything from the trains to the scenery. The effects are perfect, from the weather through the smoke and to the sounds. The surveyor is very easy to use and reasonably intuitive even to someone with some 3D modeling experience (Anim8or). And the download helper is very useful, much better than trying to search for parts of a layout all over the internet.

Thanks, Guys!

What I like about Trainz

I find that running trains is my favorite and finding new railcars to add to my collect. I am learning how to use Surveyor (I will get back to you).

VERY Cool

I think i love the cab mode it's so cool to see trains in a passengers point of view, especially since i dont actually go on real rail road trips that often

Why i love trainz

I love driver mode because it gives me a first hand insight of what it is actually like to drive a train. Also, for anyone who is reading this, I have posted a thread called " trainz 2004 question". My username is frown888, so if you could, it would be appreciated if you could have a look, and try and answer my question. Thanks :)

I am not a techy type which is what you need to be with MTS and the ease that Trainz allows me to do what I want is paramount.

Well, I've not yet found a computer that will run Trainz, but by the looks of things from other users, I would have to say that I love the ease of use of Trainz. You can easily create routes ( Awesome!), you can easily run your route like a real railway/railroad/railline (:Y: Yes!), and you don't have to scour the internet for missing assets for the locomotives, rolling stock, routes, etc. ( :udrool: yes Yes YES!!!!). So, that is why I love Trainz.

Steam...steam...steam

I like standing in the cab of a steam locomotive, laying on the whistle as it starts to crank up and the wheels start to move.

And after only one session in the new TRS2009 I am already impressed with the fact that it worked right from the start. Looking forward to getting into it more this weekend.
