What do they call the tender full of water behind the tender full of coal for a steam train and im looking for one that could go for N&W freeware perhaps??? thanks and my 765 steamer chuffs in my railyard and its not even moving how do i fix that ? thanks if i can find one of those i will be greatful!

I don't claim extensive knowledge of the topic, but the extra tenders that the UP steam excursion trains use are usually old tenders from retired UP gas turbine locos, so you might try looking around for those. I don't think you'd be able to use them as anything other than another car in the consist without some fairly serious code hacking, tho ...

Water only tenders are usually called 'Canteens', although 'condensing tenders', which collected water from the engine instead of letting it get wasted are another type, but they are usually only found in desert climates, where water is considerably more difficult to supply. Canteen tenders were not that common either, since water troughs and filling towers were fairly frequent on most railways, but Norfolk and Western used canteen tenders with their 2-8-8-2 locos in order to alleviate the need for heavy coal trains to stop in order to replenish their water supply, since on steep gradients, such trains might not have been able to actually get going again from a complete standstill with a lot of coal wagons in tow.

I should think if there is a freebie, typing canteen in the content manager would locate one if such a thing has been made.

Here in South Africa we call them torpedo tank cars , the large Garrats like the GMAM and other types of locos that did long runs had them hooked on for extra water . There is also a steam heating vehicle -SHV -that gets hooked up in winter that generates steam for heating and steam pipes are coupled through all the passenger coaches from the SHV. Not sure where to get them or if they are available for dl.
