I am going to run a competition for people to make a model of the NEW merseyrail 507's. Well they are not new but they have been completely refitted. I would like to know the "specs" of the train so that i can judge the competition fairly.

If you need a picture to get you going this is the picture that i found, having the best angle.

This may seem like a stupid forum but i am hopeless at surfing the net

Can you help???

And what are you planning to give away in this competition?
EDIT: also for a relitively new user, what risks are we taking? I hate to say it, but some content creators may not be willing to take a risk, after spending months of hard work, creating a 3D model. You seemed to of forgotten the time element and by the sounds of things, you want a Class 507 model with all the bells and whistles, yesterday. That I can fully gaurentee, will not be possible, it will take at least 3 months.

I was afraid that someone would say that.

I have never created a model of my own, i don't know how to. I won't do the competition but can you give me the links to any apropriate programs and then any tutorials that they may have.

I have always wanted to make something for myself .

Well yes but you'd done it already so I think it should be disqualified from the competition.

What I think we need is a really worthwhile prize and let the competition run for a year or so since that's how long it takes to put something like this together sometimes and then we'll have lots of nearly identical 507's.

Start off with a reskin then move into Blender. Think in terms of scenery objects first. It's useful to work in a team, research takes a lot of time. If you have any artistic ability or have and know photoshop or paintshop pro well most teams have a spot for you.

I'm not interested in entering the competition as my modelling standards are way below what ZXR400 has already achieved with this model.

I posted the screenshot to show that there is one already available as it's not clear in his post if he knew whether one already existed (it's not on the DLS so if he had done a search he wouldn't of found one in this livery) .

It will be uploaded to the DLS but not until the current upload problem is sorted !!
