N3V, please revert the manual load system.

Dear N3V. The new manual loading system introduced in TRS22 SP5 is confusing, hard to use and just flat out sucks.

With this new permitted queues loading system. For cars that have multiple load queues, you now have to manually to choose what load positions you want your loads to spawn on where as the old system would have multiple bars representing each one. Now with cars where loads support each queue, you have to uncheck all but the desired loading queue for where you want your load to spawn on.

This makes it especially annoying for intermodal trains with well cars or TOFC flat cars/spine cars where they used to have 2 bars for loads representing both a top and bottom position for well cars and front and back position for TOFC/Spine cars. Now they spawn supporting both loading queues and will not allow you to place more than one trailer/container on the car(s) and you have to manually uncheck one just to have 2 containers/trailers on the car.

And boy this is the absolute worst experience when the car in question has a separate kuid for each container/trailer. (cloakedghost tofc flat cars and well cars)

Please. I beg you. Please, revert the manual loading system back to how it was before the SP5 update...

I prefer the new system over the old of which there were many confusing variations and the odd ones that did not work at all. A better option would be to give users the choice. I would opt for the new system but that is just my opinion.

I am with you, totally in agreement. There was nothing wrong with the old system. It was not broken, why fix it!
John

It was not broken, why fix it!
But it was broken.

Some creators had their own "custom" interfaces, others had errors (possibly in their scripts or elsewhere) where you could not load a wagon with more than one item, select from more than one queue or even select an alternative product. Others simply did not work at all.

I found it confusing and frustrating. If you want to stick with the old then do so but please don't force everyone to go back to the old ways.

My opinions.

I think the new system has the potential to be a very good system, but it needs a lot of refinement, mainly regarding anything involving containers.

Can you please point out an asset with a custom interface?

Agreed.

Agreed.
I believe the 5188 hoppers have the Brewers spent grain bulk commodity

You are probably correct. However, the point of my post was to identify, as requested, a user created (non-standard) interface for loading a wagon. I have never used the product loaded by this interface so I cannot tell if it works or not - but given the attention to detail by its creator I would be surprised if it did not.

To recap. This discussion is about the new interface for loading wagons that has recently appeared in Trainz Plus and TRS22PE. There are some posters who do not like the change and want to see it abandoned and the old loading interface(s) returned. I pointed out that some of the old interfaces have problems that stop them from working as expected and I personally find the mixture of different custom interfaces confusing. For those reasons I would like to see the new interface continued and I have not insisted that the old ones, now Legacy Interfaces, be abandoned but that decision should be left as a choice for individual users.

The new interface, with examples showing the old, is described on the Trainz Wiki Page https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/How_to_Use_S20_Palettes.

In particular the sections dealing with
  1. Preload an Industry
  2. Legacy Industries, and
  3. Loading Consists.
As pointed out by @BBarnes005 the new interface still has some (or a lot depending on your point of view) of work to make it fully useful.

With the new system it is simply a matter of moving sliders, no typing of numbers or clicking tabs, for both industries and consists.

But each to their own.
yeah this is why i like it, and less trying to be graphical. I never cared for the TPR loud and blocky ones or most of the others that came up with their own that never quite matched up with the game's own interface. That was even made worse when the interface of the game changed and the old assets did not. Before i responded here I tried to load a muti-queue item and it may have been a tiny bit more difficult to understand what items go where, for example stacked intermodal containers, but it was not that big of a challenge.

I can't understand why anyone would want to go back to manually loading 30 or 40 individual container wagons for example, when now you can configure one wagon and then load an entire train with one click. The new interface is much easier to use.

To be fair you have always had the ability to do that with the old interface by clicking a small and often overlooked icon in the rolling stock properties dialogue - it took me a while of individually loading each identical wagon with an identical load before I realised it was there and what it did 😄

With the old interface the cars could fill by type. If you have BN hoppers and CSX hoppers it only loads the hoppers matching that hopper you clicked. In the new interface I had the problem that you have different cars in the consist and load one car and click it loads every car in the consist that can carry that product.

Which is how I prefer it.

In the old system you had to specify which car would carry which product and that meant that no other car type could carry that product. So if you had two different types of coal hoppers in a consist (not an unusual real life situation) then only one of them could be loaded/unloaded with coal. I found that really annoying.

What I like is the allowed products are listed at the top when selecting the products from the commodity list. The interface took me a bit to get used to but it makes setting up commodities less overpowering and annoying like it used to be. In the past, I only configured certain open loads because I didn't feel like adding anything else and would use instant load to put "stuff" in boxcars rather than an actual product.

May I ask how this is done?

May I ask how this is done?

You certainly can!

For Surveyor 2.0 the details can be found on the Trainz Wiki at How_to_Use_S20_Palettes#Loading_Consists

LoadBulkWagonStep03_S20.png

On the bottom right of the image is an icon showing two bulk wagons, one loaded and the other empty, with an arrow between them. Click this icon to load the product into all the wagons in the consist that can carry this product.

In Surveyor Classic (in Trainz Plus and TRS22PE) a similar icon will appear in the vehicle properties window.
