A Possible Solution
I had a similar problem - it may be worth checking in CMP if the route has opened for edit (go into CMP from the Launcher, and click the Open for Edit tab) - if it is, you will need to commit it. (This mainly applies if the previous save attempt caused a Fatal Error).
If this does not solve the problem or it does not appear as Open for Edit, it may be that the assets.tdx or assets.bku files (or both) may be corrupted. If so reply to this post and I (or someone else) can give you instructions on how to rectify this issue.
I have got trainz 2004 and have now got trainz 2006but I am unable to save a route I am making when I start trainz 2006 next time my route has dissapeared what am I doing wrong
