Well, thanks to the picking and bickering, we've lost a content creator.

I to have dyslexia but was found when I was in 4th grade and had help to mostly over come it. My spelling has only improved by posting here on the forums.

there is a difference though to outright attacking him for his bad spelling and him attacking those who simply said "we cannot understand you" which is what he did very often and really makes him no less at fault than anyone else.

That may be the case, but as with everything there's right and wrong ways of dealing with things.

i agree. even a simple question was often met with foul language or attacks from him. disability does not give anyone the right to act that way to others or to break the rules here on the forum.

if he is really leaving i wish him luck but honestly we could do without all of that mess.

Indeed - things can be a two-way street. However, there's got to be a line drawn somewhere.

for one, a moderator starting this thread shows bad judgement in my opinion. this should not be discussed publicly.

I think that John made the right choice in starting this: to show what happens when people harass and nitpick a content creator.

Ey, well said. Personally I've never had any issues with others' spelling, and understand this condition that some users have. So long as I get the gist of your message, it's perfectly cool man. What was different in this case is said user behaved as though his disability gave him a free pass to um.. display aggressive and rude behavior, to all the people around him, and for that there is very little excuse.

Seems to me, the only people who would take the p*ss out of people with a disability are those who you'd find on a street corner at 2:30 in the morning, shouting and swearing and throwing litter and glass bottles on the floor. Whoever is to blame for this really has no place in this community. My Granddad has cerebral palsy, and I have a friend with dyspraxia, so I also understand first-hand what it's like living with a disability. It really is not acceptable, they deserve to be banned and quite frankly, to never play Trainz again. Long live Dragonharh, his SD100 and all the rest of his magnificent content!

Jack

I made a few comments about his spelling & grammar and said and did a few things that made him mad, I'm sure. It was never my intention to make him angry. As an author, I lived for correct spelling and grammar and can't understand why educated people cannot insure their writing is clear before hitting the "post" button.

I didn't know he had problems with dyslexia. Therefore, I apologize for anything that I said or anything I did that might have made him upset with me.

Come on back to us Dragon and when people make comments or stuff that you do not like, just IGNORE them and say to yourself, "I don't need to let them push my button or to qualify their comments with an answer."

If there's anything I can do to help you just ask. I may not be able to help, but if I can I'll try.

Cheers,

Dave

This was something I wanted to make public. I've been a member here for close to 10 years and during all this time, this is the worst I have seen it. Remember, I am a member of the community, and an avid Trainz user in addition to being a moderator. In many other forums, you never see a post from a moderator unless things get sticky.

Yes, Mr. Dragon did get a bit fork-tongued as well, but that happens when someone is put on the defensive and starts fighting back. In the online world we have here we only have written communication which makes communication difficult even with aides.
If he was on the street and was confronted, I'm sure he would have fought back in an other manner.

Thank you guys for understanding. Let's hope things take a different path going forward. It's too bad we've lost a great user and contributor.

John

As a dyslexic my self, it take me a long time to write my thoughts onto paper, and I know what dragonrah is going through, if most of you had dyslexia for just one day you would understand why he blows his top at times, I saw one of his posts recently, and he had spelt for with the number 4, and you may have thought that he was being lazy, but when I saw it plus some other mistakes I instantly knew he was a dyslexic, like me. with dyslexia you can spell the simplest words one day but the very next day you would be failing to spell the very same word the day after, it is no fun after 55 years of people tell you that your a bit slow, I am suprised that I haven't killed some one. I had an horrific time at school as a child, one I certainly would not wish on my worst enemy.
So please think before you judge others.

I would like to be truthful here. I am happy he is gone, from the forums at least. I simply found him annoying, nothing more, nothing less, just annoying. Therefore I took the high road and stayed out his way. I resisted the urge to engage in dialogue with the boy. I could have bickered and battered, but luckily I didn't have to get involved, there were other's at work already. These situation can get dangerous, especially if you involve family members etc. But I don't think Dragon is dangerous? I am not suggesting that. Can these people be highly dangerous and volatile?

Lots of good and honest commentary. The question is what should be done the next time this situation arises?

I believe that a moderator privately contacting the alleged defensive person to see what the forum is really dealing with.
Yes that person could be a jerk, or as in this case, someone who was just pushed too far by hair trigger immature forum members. Regardless of the blame, if any, moderators should recognize and correct.

That makes two of us. Don't worry, I'm well familiar of the effects of it, so I know what to expect.

Shane
And now it's three. :)

Although I only have mild Aspergers and as Dad says, 'Only the good traits.'

@John: I think that is a fantastic idea (to immediately ban those who are attacking others); too many content creators have left and certainly too many of those left because of abuse of one sort or another.

Kieran.

still doesn't make it right or provide an excuse for it. disability doesn't give you the right to treat people like dirt then run away and blame it on them. as you stated, online we only have written communication, and when his was incoherent or nonsensical and someone asked what it meant or tried to help he went off the handle. maybe he did have people around here constantly picking on him - i didn't see it - but he never seemed to miss the opportunity to call people names or attack them in the same way. like i said, a disability does not give someone the right to mistreat others or break the rules here. he shares a great deal of fault and i do not feel sorry for him.

Well, thanks to you idiots making fun of his English, a great route creator is gone. You all happy? I have his Dragon's Pass routes, and you managed to shoo him away. Congratulations.

I have a bad stuttering problem, so I know what it is like to be made fun of for having a disability. Not good. You all just made it worse.

I was trying to be a bit more subtle, but you took the words right out of my mouth.

You really have no idea how he feels, or what it's like not to be able to express your self, it is like being trapped inside a bubble, you know exactly what you want to say, but putting it on to paper is like climbing everest.

I have read this thread with much interest.

I think if everyone just realized that no one compels you to read any of the posts. If you don't like the posts, don't read it. Go to the next one. You do not have to respond or complain about anyone. The Monitors are supposed to be the police, not you. Don't be a jerk and start something. You won't win the fight . If you can't say something nice or be helpful just move on to something else. You will fell much better.
