Weird Map Areas

I am currently working on a route (the NEC) and I have this issue on my computer:

Some areas of the map just are very quirky. Like a lot of the times objects and track take forever to appear and also when I edit track (like move it) it disappears and doesn't reappear in the new position until I leave the area and come back, all I can see is the spline points moving.

And this is happening in areas with no scenery yet a lot and other areas with serious amounts of scenery do fine.

Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Davis:)

Nope, not yet but I don't believe its a performance issue because it works better sometimes in more demanding areas.

That's the weird part,

Are there other areas not in the immediate view, perhaps an adjacent baseboard, that have more objects than the less built up areas? This can cause the program to drag, particularly if there are some high-poly objects, or poorly constructed ones that use bad textures, or overly done textures.

The same thing in the less built-up areas. If the objects have lots of polygons, or poor textures, this can cause the program to drag in those areas eventhough there are few objects in the vicinity.

I recently installed the latest NVidia drivers, and I can say that they work very nicely.

Hmm I can try looking into that but adjacent areas work fine so why wouldn't farther away areas work fine or better?

That doesn't make sense to me...

I have laid a road where the densest parts refresh instantly in the editor but at the furthest end where there is little content, it takes an ages to redraw. Inexplicable I call it.

Yes this is exactly my problem. Its just random in some areas but it always seems to be the same ones.

C'mon Auran, what the heck have you guys done with this program?

Updating your drivers especially if they pre-date 2010, it should make a difference in many cases.
Also check the performance stats, Options > Developer Settings > Show performance Stats, you probably have the splines with high buffer counts problem. Anything with a worst buffer count over 150 is likely to be a cause of problems.
I had one fence spline with a value of 640 and the view distance was down to less than one board until I removed it. Highest I have now is around 80 most are a lot lower.
Usually it's track, roads and fence type splines, the fix is to add
"uncached_alphas 1" less quotes to the config.

Should be a new updated Nvidia driver this week by the way.
