WC Shotz

Ah ok, so it's a fictional module, company in a real-life setting. Ok gotcha. I prefer real stuff...but I can make a fictional work.

:)

On my way to work...

While on my way to work at Gordon Paper Company outside of Appleton, Wisconsin, I got stopped by the morning Wisconsin Central freight train. Gee, I sure hope I won't be late for work! It looks like a long train, as far as I can make out down the tracks.

So I pull into the parking lot and I'm only a minute late. Darn that slow drive thru, I would have beat the train coming into work! The boss wants to see me in his office. I'm thinking this is it. Busted. Instead he has me go out to the company yard and snap some pictures of the boxcars temporarily stored there. Something about needing them for insurance purposes. Oh well at least I didn't get yelled at for being late!

So I get the shots the boss asked for and I'm walking back to the office, when along comes some WC power including a leased unit. I figure it won't hurt to add a few more shots!

As I continue walking back to the office, slowly mind you, I take one last shot of the WC pulling the freight cars out of the Gordon Paper Company Yard.

As I'm walking back to the office I'm thinking to myself and trying to figure out why the railroad had us take pictures of these boxcars if they're just moving them out anyways? Oh well, that's not my problem and it's back to work. That's my interaction with the Wisconsin Central, more than I've ever had in a day working at Gordon Paper Company

Great pics guys. Good to see Cozmo's pics again too!
Hey W, I really like that Old West Yard. Never been there, but
I'm sure you captured the atmosphere well.

Great job!

Thanks....Yeah it was a pretty cool yard at one time....The CN didnt buy that part...The WC pretty much did that themselves after the CNW got bought out....Then the WC moved to the bigger yard and pretty much re-did the yard...There used to be a road that went right down the middle of it....But thats the part that got redone and now its gone so they have a bigger yard.......

Will post some more pix lata today prolly

Hello Cozmo.

Could you suggest me a detailed route that would represent an American shortline or branchline that has the attention to trackage at least as good as yours has?

Good luck on that....Adam is by FAR the BEST TRS Route Builder that captures all the detail in a route....No one and I mean NO one could ever top him  :Y:

Im not that good. I'm currently trying to finish up that route so it will hopefully be available by the end of summer. I have to finish up some custom content before I can finish the route so it might take a while. Here's a shot for ya tho, caught the "700" on loan to the the ELS. It was just getting back to ELS junction after switching out the Bay Area Paper mill on this wonderful rainy morning.

How humble of you Adam.
You are very good! I admire your work and that picture right there! That is very real. BTW I have all of your boxcars and the Soo GP30 very nice stuff!

That's a nifty shot there Steve!

Mind if I ask what grass that is you're using? I had to some double-takes to make sure the picture wasn't real!

:hehe:

Well not your typical WC train today...BUT...Ran on the WC at least....Today we caught the CN Ballast train headed up to Wausau

First shot of the day we catch him at Bancroft getting a crew to come on board

At Junction City we catch him getting ready to take the NE leg of the WYE

Slowly making its way across the 2 RR crossings in town here

At Knowlton we catch him crossing the river

Just a bridge shot

Coming into Wausau and ducking under State HWY 29

All for now

Nice shots again WCL! I noticed the police squad car waiting to catch any traffic violators. Maybe he'll catch the driver of that Chrysler 300M; driving without a valid state-issued license plate. I didn't notice a Dealer plate or new-car sticker either.

:hehe:

Fun trackside stuff always makes a route more interesting! Thanks again for sharing.

Hey WCL,

I'm heading up to Trempealeau (Bit North of LaCrosse) on Wednesday, and near East Winona, there is a CN spur that goes to Appleton...I think. Do you know what they run on that?

Great shots you've been posting, and the stories that go along with them keep getting better!

That's the old GBW line I do believe. It goes over through Taylor, Merrillan, and Rapids and from there you can go 3 different directions...

I could be wrong... ;)

That line is the CN Whitehall Sub....It runs from East Winona EAST to Wi Rapids on the old GB&W like Steve said...It starts WEST at East Winona and goes thru Arcadia, Independence, Whitehall, Blair, Taylor, Kress, Hixton, Merrillan, City Point and then Wisconsin Rapids...Then like he said it goes in all 4 directions, NORTH up to Junction City, EAST to Plover, SOUTH to Necedah (by the CP) and WEST back towards Winona...Not much action out on that line...Max speed for trains is 35mph so if ya hear a train and wanna catch it...Best bet is you will for sure catch up to it.......Good luck and shoot some pix if ya do make it up that way and see some train action :Y:
