Virus Scanning?

Hi all,

Being that I download content quite frequently, I have noticed that a few sites, such as Frank's new site and TCR, some of this content was getting scanned for viruses. It has never happened to me, and I would like to know why this is happening.

Being that I download content quite frequently, I have noticed that a few sites, such as Frank's new site and TCR, some of this content was getting scanned for viruses. It has never happened to me, and I would like to know why this is happening.

I wouldn't be as concerned about this as this is a good thing. I scan every thing regardless of where it comes from with good reason. Downloading content is like downloading any program or data off of the web, and can be infected with malware (virus, worm, Trojan horse, spyware). The original upload may have been clean, but sometimes hackers install backdoors on FTP servers that can infect files so that the data contains the malware.

So having said this thing of this as a blessing rather than a curse.
