Very nice looking boxcar...just can't get my hands on it.

Good morning folks;

I cannot download this item. 40ft CP AAR boxcar, <kuid:58422:100333>, by Whitepass. There are no errors, but when I try to download it, it has a red "bar" on it. It is a fairly new item at the DLS. Would this have anything to do with the SP1 and fixes? I have not installed these yet. I'd really like to get this car, if I have to install all the updates to get it, I will. I have an install of TS12 on this pc. I use it to download items and then move them to my "Trainz pc". I'm not going to update the installs on my Trainz pc for now.

I'm doing a 1950's CNR route, there would have been lots of these cars around.

Thanks...cheers...Rick

Yes. It has a 3.7 build and TS12 is build 3.6 without SP1. CM will not download items with a higher build.

Thanks Rick;

I guess I'll have to take the leap to SP1. Dang, it sounds like I may have to update my other installs, too?

Cheers....Rick

Hi oknosten;

Yes, I think I will do the updates on this install (my downloader) and one of my other installs. If everything on my route still works I'll be happy. I have 3 installs on my other pc, all the same. I'm keeping one the way it is now, just in case I mess something up. I'll make sure I have all the bases covered before I start with the updates. Dang, another day I've been dreading! I'm busy working on a yard today, the updates will have to wait until tomorrow, or maybe the next day, or........

Cheers.....thanks guys.....Rick

(dang that Whitepass, why did he have to upload that beauty! hee, hee)

Or you could download it through the FTP pages and then edit the config file back to v3.6. I did that successfully for several SP1 assets.

Hi there Fitz;

Please excuse my ignorance, I've spent almost all my time building a route. I have not tried to fix much of anything yet. Most of that will come soon. I will have to learn to fix some rolling stock, change names on buildings, stuff like that. When you say FTP pages, do you mean what some folks call the black pages? I only know about the black pages and content manger for downloading items.

I just can't get to it today, but in the config file do I look for a line that says "v3.7" and change it to v3.6? That would be easy, too easy I'm thinking.

Thanks Fitz, I have lots to learn. I have been able to fix a couple of items that had missing stuff, but haven't spent much time doing anything but building the route.

Cheers........Rick.......perhaps I can avoid SP1 for a little longer!

I was able to download it using the FTP. However, it was missing the bogeys as "unknown". I changed the build to 3.6, substituted kuid 60238:50011 for the bogeys and I now have a great looking CP 40' box car. Thank you whitepass.

The bogeys are 50tonbentCI,<kuid2:58422:100101:3>. They're also 3.7, but error free when you "backdate" them to 3.6.

Hey thanks guys;

My route is "basically finished". Later on today I'll give That CP beauty a whirl. It's time to start learning how to deal with some of this kind of stuff. I'm shocked that I was able to get the route done. I'm terrible with computer stuff, but with all the help I get in here and a little trial and error (lots of those) I'm getting there. Someday I may even be a Trainz Veteran myself!

Cheers, thanks again......Rick

Morning guys;

Just to let you know, I have the car in my rail yard, so I'm sure it will show up in surveyor. I finally figured out what FTP was. Downloading this way was the only way I could get into the config files. Now I can get some of whitepass's other great new stuff. Thanks for teaching me this. There are a few CNR items I must try to fix. Man with a little help from you fellas, I may rise to the level of geek! That's a nice title to have these days, isn't it? All I have to do now is save it to a CDP and transfer it to my Trainz pc.

I wish I had enough years left in me to learn how to reskin, weather, etc. I don't think that is ever going to happen, I just can't deal with paint programs. I gave away a paint shop pro "program" I had. It was driving me nuts. Besides that, even if I could learn it, I'm no artist.

Cheers, I know you guys hear lots of thank yous, but without the help I get from this site, I might still be trying to install TS12. Soooo.....again,thank you very much! ........Rick
