VEHICLES IN TRAIN-OBJECT DOWNLOADS

I have noted and downloaded (and deleted) Vehicles (Cars) found in the Download Manager catalogued as Train Objects. Mostly developed by member 524343. The items are nicely done. But my question is what use are these items. They need invisible track to be loaded on a session , but are not usable as moving vehicles in AI as vehicles. I would have preferred to have these items 'constructed' for the Vehicle group. Just a point in passing.

The purpose of driveable road vehicles is mainly to have a trainspotting experience. Just driving around in an automobile, watching the trains. :)

I've laid invisible track down on some routes I've downloaded, and I do enjoy taking my 1963 VW Beetle around while watching the AI trains I've set up go past. The fully detailed cab interior with working radio and windscreen wipers for the wet aids the experience.

When loaded these Track Objectives vehicles, I could not make it move or even get into the cab. I agree, there are some vehicle base vehicles in which one can 'drive/ride' in to view AI trains in operations but are not found in the Track Object section.

Vehicles as train objects - driveable on invisible track.
Vehicles as trackside object - used for automatic road traffic (see HOWTOs).

I reviewed the HOW To's, and could not see the appropriate instruction on running the track object cars, but do appreciate being sent to that page. A lot of new information was found.

To add these trackside cars to roads, you edit the region where you setup your route. I modified a custom region myself and added in some of the HP-Trainz cars as well as some others I thought would look nice on the road. Once you've created or modified (cloned is more like it), region, choose that in the route environment settings. You'll then see your new traffic on the roads.
