Valued member leaving ?

#1-on members ignore list
I wanted to send a personal e-mail , but the address has been understandably blocked .
I only hope this person finds this thread and rethinks their decision , and allows the Forum one more chance . Maybe a short break from the Forum to allow things to return to what was , and then a full return ?
With the soon to be released TS2009 , we will all need the help and assistance from these valued members .

Never give in -- never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

Stick around. :)

I hope Angelah rethinks her decision too....the fact that she's leaving is a victory for the individual who is getting his jollies doing this kind of thing. Affording him such reactions as leaving, blaming the forum, blaming Auran, the mods, etc is just the "fix" he needs and what will prompt his return time after time....it would be very effective to just ignore such people and not even reply to their posts....it's easy to put them on your ignore list. They would soon grow tired of posting if they got no reaction. But, I'm afraid that is pretty much impossible for people to do.
The serial number idea would help....and maybe an increase in mods so such posts don't linger for too long...

The good news is that I have seen this member 'lurking' since the fiasco, and have hope that they may still decide to return ?

Let's hope ---,DLR

Maybe add a new forum feature, such as blocking posts that you dont want to see. Unless there's already such function. Hopefully, she doesn't leave. I enjoy her works. Especially her GWML route. We need more people like Angela. Respectable, kind, helpful, etc. Sometimes people get carried away when they make comments, I guess because its the 'internet' and the 'computer'. Its always good to remember that there is a human being at the end of the line, and not just a computer or a 'computer person'.

I didn't see what went on, and I don't know if I've ever dealt with the offended member in the past, but I certainly agree this is no place for whatever offensive language/gestures/pictures were posted. I remember the last time this forum got out of control, it wasn't pretty, Auran took it down, I pretty much have been gone since then. To think that sort of behaviour is still able to occur here is a little incredulous. :( And yes, to allow those people to run you off is to give them a victory. And they do not deserve same!

Probally waiting to see how big the tear squad gets ...

Do you think you are helping with this insulting remark ??????????????

I was subjected to an attack by email from members of this forum, its not a pleasant thing to go through, and before you say just mark the emails as spam, they were sent from at least 10 different addresses (hot mail etc) so its not that easy, the ONLY solution is for Auran to get tough, only allow one area for unregistered people and come down like a ton of bricks on the members, take away there download capabilities for a while should do it, if not then take it away and ban them permanently

Cheers David

Now, that sounds like a dictatorship... Anyway, while I agree that there needs to be a separate area for people who don't have a registered copy of trainz (so they can ask about trainz, ect), I don't think Auran has the resources to tighten up moderation here. Would it be possible to make it so that if a member is reported enough times by different members (that way one malicious member can't ban members on his/her own, maybe make it 10 to 20 reports), they get a temporary ban until mods can look at the situation? Also, does a perma-ban include the banning of the serial number from the DLS? Maybe that would be a good idea.

Something must be done because we will continue to lose valued members if we don't.

I like Pommie's idea of the one area for unregistered users of the forum. They can spam, flame, do what they want where most people won't have to put up with it.

I'm sorry about the situation with Angelah, I didn't see the offending post but I hope you do reconsider Angela as I do enjoy your looking at your screenies and downloading your routes.

HI,
As some of you may know, I have been a direct victim of verbal abuse, both on the forum and e-mails, fortunately I am able to brush it off.
What I think should happen is this:-

If you place a person on your 'ignore list' it should block out every post/thread/PM the offending person submits, on your own terminal.
If everyone did this, then that person would end up writing to him/herself and the text only showing on their own terminal. This could be done by placing a cookie on your terminal.

Another thing we have to be careful about is accidentally offending someone. Some harmless phrases in the UK (for example) could be highly offensive in another country. I found this out when I sent an e-mail to a friend in Australia. One word which is used daily in the UK and totally unoffensive, had a totally different meaning in Aus. Fortunately, when I explained we had a good laugh and are still friends.

Just a note before this gets blown out of proportion. In all the years I've been on this Forum, I've only one name on my 'ignore list' and this was placed in the past few weeks.
Of course. We all have differences of opinions, but we can be civil about them.
I hope our friend reads this thread and reconsiders.
Cheers
Pete

As I said in the other thread, use the following banner to alert the Mods (they can't ignore this banner easily), and to let the offender know that no-one is listening:

And Angela, Life's too short to let other people spoil your fun.
The thing that would annoy him most would be to see you here enjoying yourself again.

Smiley.

Hello

Tony idea of more moderators for the forum is what the Trainz community needs.

And Angela please do not let other people spoil your hobby and the whole Trainz community respects you a lot, we wait for your return.

Regards

Ahsan:)

Lol, and now Dave's thread where he brought this to our attention has been moved to Limbo!

Although I don't understand why it has been taken away, at least it only took a couple of hours. :hehe:

Good work! :D

I remember a system used may eon's ago by the forum namely "red tickets". If a person gets too may of these over a certain period of time they are subsequently "BANNED"

But to stop them totally would be for the forum to become a registered user's only domain.

Randall:D:D:D

We appreciate your support for Auran and valued forum members as well as your feedback on the subject of dealing with these sorts of posters. Please try to ignore them, report them and let's move on to discussing Trainz related topics.

Thanks

Tony

I just read Dave's thread and it is still here, its locked but still there. It may have been one of those post that gets lost at the end of a page. Or may have have been in the "process" somewhere when you last looked.

Yeah, it was definitely on a holiday of some kind. :D

Maybe the Mods moved it to Limbo temporarily while they told Auran about it.

BTW, when I asked whether it could be Zwab doing it, I received a PM from him (under another guise) saying that it wasn't him, and that he wouldn't use pictures (!?).

I didn't see the original thread, so I don't know what pictures he's referring to, but he can't expect us to believe it wasn't him, even if it wasn't.
Cry Wolf and all that.

Anyway, let's put this to bed before it causes the upset the offender wants.

As I said before, it would be one in the eye for the offender if Angela does come back and enjoy herself here, but the decision is hers.

We should leave her to decide now.

Smiley.

I totally agree Smiley. Only the offenders are getting a kick out of this, as others have already mentioned.

Cheers
Pete.
