UTC Assets in TRS 2004

Hi,

I was wondering if and/or how well UTC assets work in TRS2004?

OR, are most of the UTC assets already incorporated into TRS2004?

Should I be afraid to use them in '04 for fear of crashes? Is UTC a stand-alone sim like TRS04? Thanks for any help or ideas.

Hi Al,
I am not sure about whether any UTC assets have been incorporated in TRS2004 but it is possible and as UTC was the predecessor to TRS2004 then pretty much all UTC content will work quite well in later versions up to TRS2009 without much trouble. The newer the version of the simulator the more stringent the system on faulty content but most stuff works ok. TRS2009 apparently places more demand on getting it right than it's predecessors and some content requires a lot of fixing before being suitable.
Hope this helps,

Cheers
Russell.

HI Al,

Most of the stuff on the DSL under the UTC category is OK to install and doesn't cause crashes. Most of us old hands just dumped all our collection of UTC stuff right into TRS2004 when it came out without a lot of problems. The big change between those versions was the addition of interactive assets like industries and stations. So items that used scripting in UTC have the biggest issues. There are some fix track switches by mike10 that don't work under TRS2004 and some bridges that don't show in the game. If you download a route with these you just have to replace them. Mostly stuff just doesn't show up in the game, it doesn't crash it.

There are some assets included in every version of Trainz that go back the the very first version.

Thank You both for the info on UTC. Yea, I've had some wierd problems in the past with TRS'04 but they were solveable. Couldn't get the Content Manager in '06 to work so am using 04' for now.

Al

Hi just to add my contribution to this discusion I went from the very first Trainz =1.3 then UTC and put all that content into 04 when I got it
most in fact all worked without problems.
However I now use the more updated content since most of the earlier locos wont work in cab mode although they can be made to work via keyboard or DCC mode
