Using Trainz 2010 to Merge TS12 to merge Routes

Hi,

The issue of not being able to Merge routes in TS12 has put a Damper on my Trainz 12 Experience. Since mid last year to November last year i have been Emailing N3V for Support on the Problem of merging, they said they will be Rectifying the problem in a Future HOTFIX (Emphasis on the "Future") . I thaught this was going to be the TS12 patch released in November 9 2011, but was not. I know patience is a Virtue and N3V will fix the problem in time, But how long and why no news on progressive updates coming aimed at the Merging issues?. For some merging is Third need and some are nutral on merging and there are those like me that Cant live without this. No information on the forum Gives an Exact Instruction to Merge routes ether outside of trainz or within?. So i have begun looking for Alternative solutions across the web but no luck anywhere:'(. I have tryed to Export CDP,s of my routes and import them To Trainz 2010 (Latest Build) But no Success, Trainz 2010 seems to see TS12 Routes as Corrupt missing map data. Could any one with methods of Merging routes outside of Trainz 12 please Describe the process no matter how complicated?.

P.S: Does not being able Merge affect alot of people?, merging is Mentioned Thougout the Forums of time gone, but now topics of this subject seem Sparse. Could this be that there are other merging methods that im un-aware of or is it simply not that Important any more?. N3V alway's answer their Support tickets, and have a Big job making patches for the Variouse Versions of trainz out their, this means that Complex patches Take lots of time? But how long is too long, ill continue waiting for N3V to pull through but its just Painfull to be in the dark about Time frames to the Problem of merging being Fixed. Could this be Because this Issue is a Major Bug or Flaw that has Effected the Quality of the Game, or that merging is not an Important thus N3V leave it and fix it when theve got More important things Fixed, I just Dont know?.

Hey Azurerail,

I brought this issue up with the helpdesk way back last year shortly after TS12 came out. They acknowledged the issue was there, and said that there was no date for the fix, so apparently they're working on it still. This issues does affect what I'm trying to do at the moment, but I did notice the problem does not affect merging in blank baseboards, or those creted in TransDem, into an existing route. The problem only occurrs when the route has objects already on it.

I too was wondering if merging in TS2010 would be possible then bringing the route back into TS12. I don't care if the route lists missing dependencies in TS2010. This is a non-issue as long as one doesn't remove the missing dependencies. I figure I could merge the routes that I want to, then bring the route back into TS12 to do what I want and vice versa.

Maybe someone has done this already and has a solution to our problem.

HI john!

Thank you for replying, I thaught this was a major Bug affecting most users. I too noticed that we can merge Routes with no objects in TS12, But like you i have around 5 seperate route peices to merge to com pleat my Representation of a Very Fast train Link between Brisbane Australia (My home) and Sydney, a massive 916 KM route! thats mostly Manualy made without TransDEM using only switching between Google Earth and Trainz for Features and Elevation, A very major task indeed. Merging would allow me to get on with the route and bring it all together to see if the journey of 916 KM can be done in 4 HRS at 200KM/H using British Rail XPT Locomotives (These loco's operate here in Aus under the Countrylink XPT Brand). Well thanks again, John i dont feel Quite so Alone with the Merging Prob in TS12 now, and like you cant wait for N3V to Re-open the door to Massive routes again!.

Welcome aboard, Goofy. Please edit your post and remove your email address. You don't want spam bots to surf your address out and send you spam mail!

The type of merging you want is a bit different than this. We're discussing merging routes together to make make a longer route. This is currently broken in TS12 and awaiting a patch soon(tm).

What you want to do is quite different. You want to merge in the two programs into one. This can be quite complicated and I suggest that you start a new topic on this so not to take this thread off track.

Hi guys.

I tried the issue of merging routes together first in TS2010 (you have to back date the routes first to something like 2.9) and then re-importing back into TS2012. It did it 50% of the time, but a lot of assetts was still showing up as white dotted lines even when I have the assetts installed.

Could the fault be due to something going wrong with splines? Also, could this be a merging issue if you have something showing as faulty still on the two routes, causing the two routes to crash?

The only other thing that I can think of is that Trainz itself is running out of memory due to the now big routes that we have. If so, maybe a good case for the next version of trainz to become 64bit only?

Regards.
