Usernames

I thought we already had one of these....

anyways...
mine is fairly egotistical. It developed when a friend and I were making up a fake radio station (it never went anywhere) I wanted a "cool" sounding name. so I chose PerRock which breaks down to Peter Rocks (+/- a few letters) Generally any RR related forum you will see me with that handle; although I am also found under: PFreeman008. which is my first initial + my middle name and then almost the number of one of my favorite movie spys, James Bond. I picked 008 because a) I am not Bond, b) 8 is my favorite #

Mine goes back to 1975 when I needed a CB "handle"
I thought I recognized that name from some were. I went under the CB handle of "strange ranger" around central California, mainly the S.F. bay area, from 1985 through 2002 when I quit driving truck. I hung up my radio mic shorty their after. Got into Trainz mid 2003. Joined the old Trainz forum in late 2003 and had to find a nick name. I didn't want to use my retired CB name so I went with what some of the guys at work called me. Some of them kept trying to keep up with me running heavy equipment, and couldn't;), so they started to call me a "slave driver" It sounded good enough to me.

I was obsessed with Sid Meier's Civilization. I usually played as a fictional Roman emperor whom I named Dinorius Redundicus.

This was a reference to my first name (Deane = Dino = 'Dinorius' which sounded more Roman) plus the fact that I was playing until 3:30am every night, arriving late for work and being so sleepy that I feared I would be made "redundant" (ie. fired).

It's way too long as a nick-name, but it's kind of too late to change it now.

My user name came from a high school nick-name which came from a night of heavy drinking and drug use, and it effect on me. But that was 30 years ago. If you look at the picture under BIGFITZY's posts, Imagine a bear instead of a kangaroo and that's me!!!!

Mine has been around for awile too, my name is Lorin but my nickname was always lorny for as long as I can remember. The k5 comes from my love of GMC trucks and the fact Ive owned many fullsize k5 Jimmy 4x4's.

Lorin

Mine is Chrisracer because it's my "Calling Card". I love cars and racing games, and my first name is Chris so I go by Chrisracer. The numbers "8903" is a Central Michigan/ Huron Eastern Railway locomotive number. All the railfans in my area of Detroit and Central Michigan know me as "Chrisracer - The Railroad Racer" because of my sports car that I take to chase down trains for photos! Even the crews of daily trains on the Michigan routes I have modeled for TRS have taken notice of my "Identity". That's what makes me who I am; not just in Trainz, but railroading in general. -Chris

My username comes from Commander Keen 5,the Shikadi were the main race of aliens trying to blow up the Milky Way! That game gave me hours of fun.:)

Hello, I'm certainly not 6'-4" nor weigh 25 stone but I dod get my "handle" from my work companions. I ride a 750cc Kawasaki to work as often as possible and the guys here at the shop started calling me Scootermon. The 'mon' part reminder of the Bahamas where my in-laws lived as in "Hey, mon, where are you going?" the 414 part is the US phone area code in which I reside (Milwaukee, WI). The combination of the two sorta stuck and I took on 414Scootermon. :-)

My handle happens to be the rot-13 encoding of my real name, but that's just a coincidence. What really happened was I accidently typed it into a high-score list many years ago and decided to keep it. It's a little short, but it sounds humble, is easy to remember, and people seem to like saying it.

Growing up, I liked the concept of knights as they are thought of as noble, good, honest, loyal soldiers who protect their lord, the poor and those in need. Growing up and seeing many of what I would like to think of as heroes (more like junkies, alcoholics, liars, sellouts) I decided to aspire to be a knightly character. Looking at popular culture, there are few people who I can honestly say have those qualities, so I called myself thelastknight on some forums or old accounts.

After I got older and more humble :hehe: I decided to just use knight, but that is quite a common name. Since moving to Korea to teach 5 years ago, I learned that the Korean word for knight is Gisa (interestingly it also means taxi driver :hehe: ). It had a nice ring to it and so it has sticked with me since.

Sometimes people confuse that with Giza and automatically assume I'm Egyptian or Jewish or what not but yeah...that's the story behind my name.

Gisa ^^

Mine comes from the Wyoming Railway, which was a short, narrowgauge line that ran twenty some miles from Buffalo to Clearmont Wyoming where it connected with the CB&Q. It started in 1919 and made its last run in 1946.

My father's ham radio callsign was WA3ZAP. They called him Zapper, and he used ZapperJohn as a net name. I was going to be ZapperJT (my initials), but heck, I threw in an "e".

Cheerio,
John
