Here's a couple more pictures of the Cedar River and Allan's Point.

An outbound freight pulls out of the Allan's Point yard:

The train is approaching the city limits of Allan's Point:

Just ahead is a long 1.1% grade (the small shed actually marks the spot where the climb begins):

Climbing the grade. The crew generally throttles down to 10 mph or so, and uses the tractive effort of the locomotives to get up the hill:

That'll be it for a while. I don't expect to have any time to make more screenshots for the next week or so.

And, yes, I still have to replace the default track. I've barely begun doing so, and haven't replaced any in these parts of the layout.

I was out in Colorado several winters ago. I was visiting my Uncle Steve when a large snowstorm hit. I was helping him clear the gravel road on his farm when I heard the sound of a train hitting the crossings in nearby Redcreek. I was hoping to see a train, but wasn't expecting much as the rails were starting to get covered by a thick blanket of wet snow. I ran and grabbed my camera from my Steve's old pickup. He agreed that it was a good time for a break, and lit up a smoke as I waited for the train.

Boy was I surprised to see a snowplow crawling down the track towards me. I snapped this pic before heading into the field to avoid getting buried under the snow.

I waited at the crossing until I could take these shots. The train was an EX-Erie plow being pushed by a Denver Rio Grande SW1500. I'm not sure where they got it, but I'm sure that they were happy to have it.

Luckily the tracks weren't completely covered in snow or else it would have made our job much harder.

I was just about to head back over the tracks and get back to work when I heard yet another horn. I knew that it had to be another train because the next crossing wasn't for six miles. I went back next to the tracks and waited for the train, my mind wondering what it was. I didn't have to wait long. I watched the train slowly approach the crossing. The train was crawling due to the weather. I managed to take these two pictures before heading back into the field.

I was excited to see a Rio Grande geep leading the train followed by a DRG SD-40.

I grabbed these pictures of the train before my camera ran out of film. (I had forgotten to change it after my trip to Pikes Peak.) I was dissapointed that I missed the army trucks on the last cars of the train.

A pair of CSX gondolas managed to migrate out west. They seemed to be filled with gravel for the roads.

Over all it was a nice day. It was nice to visit my old state. It really is beautiful out there. Someday I hope to go back.

Very nice screenshots jadebullet, I like the idea of having some parts of the track deeper in the snow than others; great work.

One minor suggestion I have is using Adam's Crossing Signs, available on the DLS if you search his name. (You have to use the link in his signature unless you want to look for that R symbol :hehe:). They are much more updated than Okie's, that you're using.

Keep up the great work.

DLS, I believe it was Maddy25 who made them, not sure.

Thank you. :D

Now Isaac, hope you don't mind me asking, but where are those green and yellow articulated buses located please ??

Also,

@jadebullet: Hate to be annoying, but is there any chance you could tell me where that snow blower can be obtained please ??

Thanks to both. :)

Always look on DLS before asking.

I think the bus is on DLS but it might be in a European name. There are many similar to it there. The plow is by magicland on DLS
