Upgrading Graphics Card

Still here... lurking
Hi all,

Since Trainz performs poorly on my current graphics card, an AMD Radeon 7310 HD, I'm thinking of upgrading. I have my eye on an NVIDIA GEForce GTX 750 TI. Is there anybody who owns this card and what are it's pros and cons?

Thanks

I run a 2GB Asus Nvidia GTX 750 Ti Strix graphics card in my second machine and I can't fault it. Maximum power consumption is about 60 Watts hence it does not require an auxiliary power lead and hence runs a lot cooler. The fans do finally kick in with Trainz but surfing the web, emails etc. they seldom start up making the card practically silent not that it can be heard over the case and PSU fans when running Trainz. The card is relatively short making it ideal for an mATX or ITX case but it does occupy two slots width.

Running T-ANE most of the video sliders are set about mid way with draw distance at 6000m with shadow and 8000-10000m without. The Asus card is not the cheapest here in the UK and perhaps the GTX 960 although more expensive would be a better investment. Peter

Well, I'm looking for one that is within $100 and performs pretty good. I cannot manage one that costs 2 grand. Here is a video with the 750 TI.

Looks fine to me, if that card fits you budget then fine - can't really comment on US prices.

At the end of the day it's always a lottery as there are so many (variable) factors in play, not just the card but CPU, RAM, Trainz version + many more.

Good luck !

Just the card I was considering as I struggle along with my GT 630.

Nice to see specific comments on its performance in T:ANE. At just under £100 on Amazon in UK it looks like the affordable performance boost I need. :)

Well, after my last comment I ordered one from Amazon, asked for free 2-5 day delivery and it was delivered at about 1400 today. How's that for service?

Installed without a hitch and WOW! what a difference; no jerking and I'm on max draw distance. I'll gradually increase everything in the next session or so and see what it can do.

An unequivocal star plus for this card as sheer value for money.

A very happy bunny!:D:mop:
