Updating asset database

Hi all

noob question,

one week into Trainz, every other or three times I launch Trains it goes to Updating asset database.
It takes a good 10 minutes to run.

How often does this happen cause it is a pain.

Welcome to Trainz and the forums.

I first want to mention that you really do need to register your Trainz version to receive proper support for your product, by entering in the serial number into your Planet Auran account. The community does not support people who do not register their software, and the unregistered users are considered pirates right off. If you have registered your software previously under another username, please contact the helpdesk and someone will assist you with merging your accounts. Also contact the helpdesk if you purchased your software used online as this may have ben registered to someone else and the ownership needs to be transferred if possible.

Now, back to your original problem...

This usually happens if you turn off your computer too soon after shutting down Trainz. Once you exit the program, wait at least 5 minutes for the program to close any database file it may have open.

I was all registered,
I guess the forum snafu wiped all that out also...
will re-register I guess. not a good welcome to Trainz.

How do I so that again, wast not easy to find last week either

Confirm that the username you are using in the software is the same one used on Planet Auran.

If they are, contact the helpdesk.

How, the help desk link is covered by the search entry box. I can not click it.

I took a screen shot but how so I attach, link says upload from URL. no attachements?

Bought this game to relax, not get stressed out.

Bummer! I understand your frustration.

What browser are you using and what Trainz version for starters? The MAC version has different requirements as far as I know compared to the Windows versions.

The browser may need to be resized a bit as the new interface has some bugs which make buttons get in the way. I know, another thing to bother with! :(

Once you get to the helpdesk screen, you can then upload your screen capture by choosing a category and then putting in a ticket. I did this only once and that was two days ago with the new helpdesk software. Bare in mind that this is new to us too. (swell I know what you're thinking...).

Trainz latest build 58414, running win7, 1280x1024 resolution, went to higher res, no go.
went lower res, just more overlaps, no go

In your browser, try the CTRL - or mouse scroll-button at the same time as holding the ctrl key to resize the fonts and display. You may only need to go down to 98% or something that minimal to make your display fit.

Don't get us going on the new helpdesk system... This is a recent implementation and we're working with the support team on this...

However, choose a category such as I can't create my own asset or something like that, and run the troubleshooter. Once in there, you can then submit a ticket for the things that don't match. (Well doh! because registering software isn't creating stuff!).

Stimpy, from your problem description, it seems you are not letting the software shut down correctly. Trainz requires heavily on its background database process, TADDaemon.exe. This program lingers for up to a minute after exiting Trainz. You MUST (and I cannot stress this enough) wait for TADDaemon.exe to close on its own before powering down your computer. This is critical. You can monitor the process in Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, go to Processes tab) to make sure it is not running when you shut down your computer.
 
I hate this too don't worry I've found that when you exit trains you have to hit exit game then if your shutting the computer off you hit log off then after it has logged off your user you shut down idk it always seems to work for me next time you go to shut down :Y:

I almost never shut down, except lately when I try to run Trainz in full screen, goes black, no cpu lights, 20minutes later, forced power down.
Might have to again, started Trainz windowed, havent tried content yet, went to, validating now for 20 min. and not responding message.

If you're getting a non-responding message, it may be due to the fact that it cannot verify your details. It's best to sort out your registration issue first with N3V.

I am registered with Auran according to my profile, 12 and Ultimate both registered.
I start game, click options, Product key under general is THERE, I click planet Auran, Login successful, user correct.
I AM FINE.
 
Then why doesn't the icon appear here in the forums? Are you using two different login names? One for the forums and one for the game? That can make a difference. If this is so, still contact the helpdesk and have them merged as that will solve a lot of hassle in the end.
