hi

can someone please tell me why my 2010EE is updating trainz asset database
every 2 or 3 days.

this computer has never been on the net and never will be

it takes between 3 to 5 hours to do this

i really do not need this to happen when i only have a bit of time to play

is there a script or something so that i can stop this?

its getting to the stage where i want to rip my hair out

thanks
ron

Hi Ron,

Is your database shutting down properly when you exit from CM or Trainz its self? This could be a database issue rather than an actual update. Set the option, under the developer's tab, to show the command window while the program is run.

When you launch Trainz or CM, the window will open up too, but minimized. With CM running, you may see multiple windows and you can click on them to make them "alive" so you can see what's happening inside. You'll see various things like data being scanned, files being opened, or closed.

When you finally exit from Trainz or CM, the window will say Exiting due to lack of activity. If this doesn't happen, then you need to do a Quick DB repair.

Hope this helps.

do you give trainz a few mins to finsh up doing some clean up after you exit the program,,, then you turn off the computer, if you turn off the coomputer before trainz has time to do some clean up, it will try to update the data base everythime you start it..

Hi Ron,

The Download Task: (blah, blah, blah) looks like CM or Trainz is trying to login to Planet Auran and can't get there. This will happen if you run the program on a computer without internet access, or PA is down at that time. The program I don't think is phoning home, but logs into the servers to check for content updates you see on the main screen where it says content updates and a big-sized number.

The file access errors are bit of a concern, and lend me to think there's a bit of a database problem. Running the Quick database repair usually fixes the problem. I've had that happen a few times, particularly when there was a glitch in the program and it closed unexpectedly. I've also inflicted the same problem on myself by shutting down too soon.

So do yourself a favor and run the Quick DBR and let me or us know if this helps.

this computer has never been on the net and never will be

Also, check the firewall is allowing Content Manager access. Looks to me like it's being blocked.

I don't think the firewall is to blame if the PC is not connected to the internet, Malc.

It seems to me that the program is dead set on connecting to Planet Auran, and won't be satisfied until it does Ron! I don't know if there is a setting to choose to let the program know you are NOT connected, but others have had this problem before, and people chimed in claiming that their PC was NOT connected, and had no such issues.

Have you done a forum search related to this problem?

BTW, I'll be working with your pictures later this month, I have a block of time set apart for the purpose.;)

hi ed

i've read through what i could find,
but nothing points me to a switch that i can turn off

all i can think of
is that the program thinks i go on the net when we link up via routers to play cod2 games

the windows show that its got a hard on to connect with planet auran

to me thats something like spyware

every time i start the game or cmp
this happens

dont worry about time for me

i have lots of it.
i dont need the stuff just yet

need to get the new route into the game first

thanks mate

I frequently run off line by simply disabling the network on my Games PC thus disconnecting it from the router, easier than crawling around under my bench...... and I don't get all these login failure messages, just the one that say trying again in whatever minutes then CM opens and after it finds it can't connect, it just states Content Manager is working off line takes seconds.

Make sure ichat hasn't got enabled in the in game options, as that will keep trying to connect, seems to be reactivated after patching and is the first thing I disable.

Does not match the database record means its not stored in the same place as it was, usually something you have altered by editing it or there has been an update, you can ignore those messages, it's just telling you it has corrected the problem.

The missing attachment points are usually non-existant in the mesh, probably as a result of being lazy and reusing a previous config, done it myself with passenger attatchments. Deleting the non existent ones from the config usually solves the problem.

The extended-station tag is something that has been "invented" and needs removing, as it's not a known one and has no purpose, probably used by the creator as a note or reminder type comment which is not supported in config files of newer versions of Trainz. You can get a similar message if a valid tag is in the wrong container, mostly though you can just delete them.
If in doubt check on the Wiki here: http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/Index_of_Tags_&_Containers

hi malc

where do i find the ichat thing?

i have no idea about that one

i looked in cmp options and in the main options,
but nothing to be found there

thanks
ron

Ron Hi, go into the game and on the top menu bar is a list of stuff one of them being Options.

Go in here and it will open with options for various settings one of them being Global Options.

Go in there and in it is an i-chat button at the side is a tick box make sure this is not ticked.

If it is click on it to untick it and it will stop it trying to access the net.
