updated r32

When the R32 cars went through GOH the front sign that they got was not an LED sign, but a low tech dot matrix sign that you can't see 90% of the time. Also they did get new rollsigns with the route bullet on the lower sign. The side door windows stayed the same size, but the front storm door I think is smaller. Other than this, the cars exterior did not change much aside from the end bonnet. I think it would be great to have a GOHed version of the R32 just as they are heading to a watery grave.

Not my picture, just an example of the modern R32. (Photo from nycsubway.org)

Oh my god I love these cars. Is there a chance anyone here can add actual R32 sounds to the updated version?

I knew that R40, R40M, and R42 subway cars have smaller windows in new doors. I think I made a mistake saying that R32 and R38 subway cars having smaller windows in new doors. When I saw the R40 subway cars for the first time in early 1970s, they looked weird due to bars on slant ends. Until I got books on NYCTA subway cars, I thought that the R40 subway cars came from the factory that way but I found out that the first group of subway cars didn't have bars. Half-height bars were added at first then full-height bars were added. NYCTA had the factory change the cab ends to R42 style.

Yep, the last 100 R40 cars were redesigned with the front that would be used on the R42. I saw a cool picture in one of my books showing 2 end shells on the shop floor with new end gates as a test to see what works. Later the R42 would get spring gates like those on the older cars and aside from the R62, it is the last car to have them. All the others have 3 springs which act like chains.

As of right now, the R42 CI rebuilds are on the way out the door and fast too.
Here is an R42 getting ready to be sent out.

If I knew how to make stuff, I think this would look great as a track side item.

the progress of the "updated r32" is going well it just that i need to now how to change the kuid so i can upload to the DLS.any body now how to?

You can do anything you want to it for your own use, and post as many screenshots as you like. Distribution is another matter (and I'm not talking about sharing it with your friends, which is OK, but with the public via a website or the download station). In order to update it to the GOH version, changes would have to be made to the model itself, not just the textures. If enough people were interested, I might consider doing it.
why dony you make a thread on what people want and requast? EX:R160,GOH R32,or the R68.if you like you should put it on payware so that you had a reason for the work you did or put in freeware your choose

Thats right, as he has stated, you can only email the object to your friends, NOT upload them to the DLS, unless he has an email stating otherwise.

Which he doesn't.
Now, I could have just made the modifications to the mesh which were part of the GOH program (chopping off marker lights in front, installing AC and replacing the straps with railings, etc.), but I figured if I'm overhauling it, I might as well go whole hog. All new dirty and oxidized stainless textures (the originals were modeled as brand new, here, it's about 6 years out of GOH), new route textures for 14 routes (circa 1995), updated advertising (though that's still ongoing), heck, I even pulled the handles off the route signs so nobody would mess with them except the conductor. Still a few things to do (got to pop the new wipers on), but it's rolling along...

Can you move around in those or do you have to sit in one place and look around? Looks really good.

Cheers

Depends on how crowded it gets! :)
Like most (if not all) of my Subway cars, there are several interior viewpoints which can be accessed from the cabview by using the [] keys, and from each you can look around, but you can't just roam around in it (unless there's something neat they've left out of the CCG).

OMG!!! magicland that looks great, I did not think anyone could make the R32 GOH look good, but you made it look great. Awsome work, I cannot wait till it is out.I cant wait to see what other subway reations you have. I dont think I can say this enough, your work is just amazing!!!!!!
