Luckily, I'm around to help.

Firstly, to assist you with the patching process, I would advise you have a read of the patching tutorial that I have created. (If you get stuck with any part of it, please reply to this post, and assistance will be given)

This can be accessed at http://shaneturner12.awardspace.co.uk/trainzdata/index.php?page=patching-guide-of-ts2009-10-12.

The patch you will require for stage 1 of this tutorial is the following manual patch:

http://download.ts2009.com/patch/42203_to_44088.exe

Read through the tutorial as you install the patch. It should help you install it.

Be aware that once you have installed the patch, you will have a decision to make, but that can be covered once the patch is installed.

The decision you need to make is the following:

Now you are at build 44088, you are now able to install the multiplayer beta patch.

There are potential pitfalls with this patch, including the fact that you will lose access to any faulty content (as the multiplayer beta does not have any compatibility mode)

The other option is to simply install the latest hotfix, but this will mean that if you want to use the multiplayer beta in the future, you will probably have to reinstall.

Some users have made a second installation of TS2010 to allow for the best of both worlds.

Patch details

If you decide you want the multiplayer beta:

Patch 1: http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/TS2010_Multiplayer_Beta (link is near the bottom of the page)

Patch 2:
http://download.ts2009.com/patch/46170_to_49938.exe

If you decide you do not want the multiplayer beta, there is only one patch to install.

That is: http://download.ts2009.com/patch/44088_to_49933.exe.

Shane

EDIT: Following the multiplayer route will result in the loss of compatibility mode, and there is a chance that that may happen with the non-multiplayer route.

okay so i went and downloaded the first one and then i went to play it, but it still said it was out of date so then i updated it again. now when i want to play this happens.

your computer hardware and or software is unable to communicate correctly with Trainz. Ensure you have:
-installed directx9
-installed the latest drivers for your video card. (ie.at www.nvidia.com or www.ati.com)
-tried both openGL and directX settings. (trainz launcher -> configure trainz ->dsisplay settings)

i just want to play trianz, i want the multiplayer also. i dont know what i did  :'(

Have you made sure that your DirectX files, and graphics drivers are up to date?

See the General Trainz forums for my DirectX tutorial.

i have also been haveing this problem with trainz but mine is with trainz 2010:ee
the problem i have is that the automatic patcher it comes with keeps saying "failed to extract winzip arcive" or something like that. so i was wondering if someone could post a link to the latest update for trainz simulator 2010 engineers edition. any help would be muchly apprecated.

Ps: im recyling an old thread rather than/then starting a new one if anyone cought that...

They are in the Announcements section. Here are the latest patches:

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=81424

FYI, there have been a few reports of content-related problems thanks to the new patch. Actually, there have been a lot less complaints than any other patch I can recall except maybe for SP1, and the newest patch is needed for the Aerotrain DLC and future DLC to work, but I tend to stay 1-2 patches behind to let the problems get ironed out. HTH.

What is your current build number? The latest patch(es) for TS2010 will only work with specific build numbers.

Shane

Is that the one from the bottom-right corner of the Launcher screen?

The one in the Trainz Options box is the content version, not the Trainz build version.
