Unwanted sound !!

I have been constructing my own Routes for about 2 years and have had over this time (I thought) experienced most strange happenings with using Surveyor in both 2004 & 2006. Needless to say with help from the forum members and a bit of experience I have been able to solve most "mysteries" until now !!
I first heard for want of a better description "crossing bells" on a part of the map with no crossings within approximately 20 baseboards. I searched for the bells - or source thereof - using the Mesh Button - with no success - removed a whole section and re-installed track etc etc and still "bells".
At this stage I decided to live with the bells and continued building.
Today I extended one end of the Map with two new baseboards and had done NOTHING to either when to my astonishment I moved across the bare baseboard and - BELLS RINGING as with a level crossing.
Searched the baseboard using Mesh Button and as expected nothing but the bells persist.
Am I going nuts or just the re-incarnation of Quasimodo ("the bells, the bells").
Any observations regarding the sound or my mental state will be excepted with gratitude !!

PS My Wife heard this as well so not ringing in my head.

ha ha well that is stange you should of contacted imedeatly. when did this start happening? where is it happening most 06 or 04 i have 06 and never have experianced it. we hope a reenactment. so far i can give you no advice. yet i do like the PS going nuts and mental state... well thats all for me someone may be able to help you but its not me...yet.

I remember a similar problem, where a sound carried for miles and miles, and it would go unless I deleted the object, which was a few miles in the way.

In the end, since I wanted to keep the object, I deleted the sound instead :)

Quite often - not always - I can hear station-sound when I'm in Surveyor, far away from the station itself. Also birdsound where there's no sound-pole placed. Luckily this doesn't persists going in to Driver.

I have accepted this glitch and suppose it falls within the limitations of the sound-engine in 2006. Must admit, thought I was "hearing things" in the beginning.

:)

I had that same problem 1 day i was in cmp and I started hearing
a loud airraid siren then soldiers (german) followed by a plane flyin overhead?

I thought sheesh my trainz proggy is messed up and Ill have to re install...
But that problem went away but soon enough in surveyor I was workin on a section and next thing I hear that siren etc....

Undid everything and re did still that sound file was mysteriously theyre....

Since I found it a useless file for me I found it in cmp and removed it theyre.......

Bad thing it shows up as a missing dependency?
Since then when I go in the map I try searching for it to get a idea where it is to remove it ?
This has been 2 months now ugh!
One day though Ill find it.......

I have the same problem with the "City and Country 2" I think, scenario on TRS2006, I hear the bells at railway crossings but I can be maybe half a kilometer away at a switch and I hear "dingdingdingdingdingdingding", I guess its a bug of some kind

Earing birds inside a diesel engine (!)

I can ear birds tweeting when i'm driving a diesel engine (!) ... What's the use of a bird sound playing in when you're on an engine driving seat with the engine at 75% power ... ?

The Birds are a real pain. I installed a sound file called 'Songbirds', and the sound just carried on for miles from the actual installation point. When I'd had just about enough of it, and wanted to delete it, I couldn't find it!
I ended up deleteing all the trees in the area I'd installed in to, and eventually I silenced the birds.
Another annoying sound that carries for miles is the Cuckoo sound file. It's 24/7, Day or night, theres the cuckoo still cukooing away. Yes, birdsong is fine, but please, don't make it so loud as to overpower even a steam train whistle.

Question for you. Did you use the cut and paste method of texturing your route? If so you may have installed the crossing sound all over your route.
This happens is you use the spot of texture where the bell sounds are located.

Maybe you had a window open in the cab and the bird flew in because it was tired of flying!:D

Hornz from a distance

On my own route I have consists that sound their horns (using the Hornz command) when they arrive at and leave a station. I frequently hear these 'blats' while working/driving in parts of the layout that are a dozen or more boards away from any station. This happens in Driver as well as Surveyor.

Yes, sometimes strange things just happens. This is not a sound issue but I can see black smoke coming up from sea or land in three different places, two in my own route and one in the Murchison route.

There have never been a ship or loco placed where the smoke arises, but the look is like a loco or ship was buried just below surface and there is no way to get rid of it. It looks rather funny and I think/pretend it is a small vulcan...
