Unkown KUID's Donner Pass Ver 1.1

I downloaded the Donner Pass route and I did get all the addons along with route. I have the correct build, 61388 called for in the install instructions.

I have several unknown KUID's. It's a total of 75 so the list would be rather long, but I could include it.

However all have the same author ID which is Tranzitalia.com. I have not be able to find the kuid's ANYWERE on the website.......

Are there addon packs for Donner Pass like there is for Sherman Hill that I either didn't get or have to be downloaded and if so whet are the pack names and where are they on Tranzitalia???

Thanks

2nd suggestion:
Post a bunch of the kuids you are looking for.
I am sure more people have that route and they might recognize them.

OK, here is the entire list of what I'm missing. The total is 68 it looks like NOT 75. My bad.

The author you are looking for is Roberto Conti aka robertoconti19 there is some items on DLS from him. Hope this is some help.

Hello Trainsimmer,

I am preparing a PDF with the complete list of the KUIDs contained in the various CDP files like I did for the Sherman Hill; however, since no one else has reported such a huge number of unknown assets, I dare to presume you have not installed all the CDP files. I will try to locate the CDP containing the unknown assets.

Regards

YES!! I'm thinking I don't have all the CDP files....... Could you please list here all the CDP files required so I can check it against what I have???

These are the things I have that depend on those items you are missing Trainsimmer07:

Donner Pass ver 1.1
READING & NORTHERN
Rollins Pass 1915
Rollins Pass Winter
Sherman Hill vers2_1
WEST from DENVER v1
WEST from DENVER-Winter Ed.

Since I have all those OTHER routes before I acquired Donner Pass, that may explain why I have no issue.

I have all but the Reading & Northern route, however I removed the Rollins Pass and West from Denver routes namely because my friend and I felt the routes were not accurate. (Just my opinion along with my friend, we are not here to bad mouth.) My friend knows old Rollins Pass pretty well, he has done a lot of research on the route. I grew up watching the D&RGW from the time I was 4 till it was absorbed by the Southern Pacific. No personal attack is pointed towards the people who did these route. They are just not our cup of tea. I'll add those routes along with the R&N and see what happens.

An observation here: It seems strange 6 other routes are required in order for Donner Pass to run. Actually, it's just sad it comes that. What about people who like Donner Pass but have no interest what so ever in the other routes???? Again, just my opinion though I figure I'll get lot of flack for what I have said.

You could just go ahead install the routes, then that will get all the dependencies, after you load up Donner, confirm all is well, then delete those other routes. I just think it might be coincidence that these all have some parts of the missing KUIDs that are needed. I never tried a fresh install and then just add Donner Pass.

pdkoester said it already...... But I want to elaborate.

You may not particularly like a specific Route, but why would you delete all the buildings, trees, track, and whatever else that came with it? "HA! TAKE THAT MISPLACED TREE! *Delete*"....... ? As someone thats built just enough routes to have realized that, even all 350 thousand plus known assets (To me atm) is not enough to recreate a super detailed route beyond a certain point (usually a few baseboards). Deleting assets is basically shooting yourself in the foot for either an accurate world, or just a detailed one. You don't have to like a Map to appreciate that it might contain content that nobody else has used yet, but might one day....

This all said, you can delete the Map itself without deleting all the content that came with it if having an extra listing in your Route List really bothers you that much.... Personally, I take all routes with a grain of salt. Even if I know they're entirely inaccurate, if they have even 2 well built scenes in them that can be used for Screenshots or even just my own fantasy, I will retain them, and at this point, I haven't deleted a route yet (even ones that don't even meet this criteria), even if I haven't loaded them since the day I downloaded them..... There are definitely lots of reasons to appreciate the hard work any given route creator did to create any given route for other's enjoyment, and the gumption it takes to actually release something like that, beyond "Oh well, sorry, it just isn't accurate *enough*.

Anyway, disclaimer time. This post is meant in the nicest possible way to outline some of the basic reasons why deleting routes is essentially limiting your own enjoyment of the game (Even if for no other reason then not having to track down assets at a later date). I realize previous posts were meant respectfully, and this post is no different. Respond or not, up to you the reader of course.

I strongly doubt this: with some exceptions (the winter versions of the Moffat Route and of the Rollins Pass), the download packs for our routes include all the required content, with the exception of DLS assets.

As far as I know, Jango prepared the CDP content packs for the Donner Pass directly from CM; as I previously said, I am preparing a CDP listing all the content contained in the CDP files: please wait a few days :)

This is my personal experience with Donner's Pass...

I purchased the route, downloaded all of the associated files from Trainzitalia, unzipped them, and installed them. Then I went to the DLS and got what was required there. After all was said and done, I only had one missing item: the measuring asset which was explained in the payware thread for Donner's Pass (and not required in Driver.)

All of the above went on my fully patched and updated to the latest version TS12. I had no other items from Trainzitalia as this was basically a new install on a new PC (getting ready for TANE). In my personal case, I required no other previous routes in order to have a successful install.

Regarding the route, it is fantastic! I have spent six hours over the past couple of evenings exploring and have not transversed more than 65 miles of track, and I'm not to the summit yet. Very well worth my investment.

Richard

Honestly, I'm new to Trainz and this beast behaves even stranger than MSTS.... I went thru with all the suggestions and I still had 68 unknown kuids. On a gamble based on reading a thread unrelated to my problem, I outright deleted all files associated with Donner Pass and reinstalled the whole thing. BINGO!! It's ALL THERE NOW!!!. One faulty file and that was because it was "open for Edit" After committing it, that was fixed. The route is fantastic!!!!! TrainZItalia, you guys did a SUPER JOB!!!

Thanks for all the input and it was nice for a change not to get cut down for stating my opinions. Another forum which I will not name, would have ripped me good for saying a route was in my honest opinion not accurate to the prototype. Seems like on that forum the term "opinion" is a dirty word.

Well, glad you got it sorted out.

Yes, Trainz is a different beastie, but mostly because of the DLS and the Content Distribution/Management systems. MSTS and Trainz, as basic simulators, are actually very similar, they just use different engines which is why they look different..... Trainz is also 13? years more in date then MSTS is..... Ultimately its both a boon and a curse... In MSTS, you download content, and the really good route Creators (The ones everyone likes) make it dead easy to get all the content you need out of a few Zip Files, usually with a .bat to install it..... Trainz, with the DLS, towards content for their routes, most creators take the attitude "Go find them yourselves", which leads to some interesting situations.... Not saying they shouldn't be that way, but in some ways MSTS' distribution system is easier to use for the end user......

This all said, the folks at Trainzitalia have long been on their game as it were in releasing their routes complete and with all content.

Opinions are always kindling on any forum... Trick is to avoid the pyromaniacs (Read trolls), or just accept that there are idiots everywhere. It happens here at times, but this place isn't too bad, mostly....
