Unknown Texture-shows ok but Name not known

This has been probably asked and answered - I select the Get Texture button on the Paint flyout menu. I then click on a ground texture. A picture of it shows up in the little Current Texture box. But, there is no name shown in the picture area of the Paint flyout menu. Therefore, I cannot to an Asset Replace without that name showing there, so it can be dragged to the Replace window. ???

You drag the picture and it appears in the replace box as a picture, not text.

I strongly recommend though not using replace assets on textures, due to a bug that creates large holes or black blobs that later turn into holes all over the place, a couple of threads about this problem which has existed since 2010. Takes longer to repair the holes than to just paint over the original.

Quick addition to Malc's post...

If you texture over the black areas before saving all will be well, but any black area still present when you save will create the craters. So on a small area it's probably OK, but on a route-wide texture change probably best not...

This has bitten me also and I think that you might be doing this:

1. Searching for a given texture and you enter something at the top.

2. The texture shows up and you use it.

Then:

You see a texture you want to use again and:

1. use the 'get texture' button.

2. The name of the texture does not show up BUT the picture does.

What has happened is that the actual textual listing of the texture is not showing because the text you have entered at the top of the window is acting as a filter. Clear that text and do a 're-get' of the texture. It should show up.

OR

You can do what Clam1952 says and just drag the picture.

The only picture is the little "Current Texture" picture which will not drag.
The vendor knows the name of the texture in the Current Texture picture but for some reason they will not display it. If the "unknown" texture can be displayed on the baseboard why does its name remain a secret?

Oops, I forgot about the "shell holes" caused by replacing textures. Too bad this bug does not exist in Australia so it could be fixed. It is a very big pain on large routes.

Maybe track it down by enabling show kuids in TS12? least then you could track it to content manager and give it a name or find out what's gone wrong with it?

WORKED-KUID Display shows missing asset

I took the found KUIDS to the Content Mgr. and found that the three textures I needed were disabled. Maybe the display Kuid function is considered adequate by Auran. Regardless, it worked and thanks!

Oh, doing replace by Section and no craters - yet.
