Uncontrolled speed

I am stuck with this problem. The speed dial is bouncing back and forth in quick jumps up and down and a signal just ahead is changing very quickly from red to green to red driving the loco crazy. I have been isolating the tracks and I was able to reproduce the problem just by including a branch of the main line into a forestry industry. I have spent hours looking at the crossing and I can't figure out what is wrong!
Any idea? thanks

hi

i have had the same check all your points if one is red both ways no green the points keep changing delete the switch then put a new one in hope this makes sence matt

i will not bother anymore:o

Bit of a childish response; just try and format your posts so they are readable, and so that the people for whom English isn't their first language can understand them. I had to read your post four times before I could understand it. :)

Back to my problem. I didn't see any switch showing both ways in red. I ended up deleting the entire branch and re-doing it again. Same problem. I saw a blinking switch on the minimap, went and deleted that junction, I mean, the three pieces of track and then I re-do it one more time. Same problem.
I have a loco 8 miles away from that branch, no one junction between the loco and the branch, it is up the hill, over 8 boards. As soon as the loco starts going the blinking speed dial shows up again, almost during the entire trip. When it gets close to the branch, I guess, two miles more or less, the speed control goes back to normal, the loco speeds up and completes the journey.
Do I need to have intermediate dummy junctions along the 8 miles track? If that's the case, what a crappy game! I spent money and spending time with this game and not having fun, very frustrating. Never I had problems with games before. I enjoy games like Civilization 4 or many others I have.
I haven't had a good shank of time enjoying this game, always trying to fix problems. On top of that, the lack of documentation is a shame for the company which is reselling over and over 100.000+ undocumented and outdated items and I am stupid enough to keep buying their stuff.

Hello,

When your loco gets to the signal that is blinking and not letting the loco passed, click on the signal and it should tell you what the problem is. You may find that an area of track beyond the signal is un-signalled which prevents AI taking control and allowing the loco to complete its route.

I cant remember exactly but I think that a similar thing happens in surveyer. Load your map in surveyor and go to the signal causing the problem, it should be blinking. Click onto it and it will give you a message and take you to the problem peice of track or turnout. I cant re-create the problem to check it myself because my Trainz disc is so well used that the computer no longer reads it and I am waiting for a new one to arrive :(

Hope this helps, Andy

Thanks Andy and Matt and others for your responses.

May I ask how to 'click' to find out what is wrong with a blinking switch? :'(

I did click on it on both Driver and Surveyor and I saw nothing, please bare with me, I am almost 2 months old with this game and it is driving me crazy.

Hold the curser on the signal aspect (a message will show) r/click and this will take you to the problem.

Thanks Fran1. I went back to Driver mode and holded the mouse cursor over the switch and I don't get that bloody message you mentioned. Maybe I have a wrong version of the game or so. I am giving up on this crap, at lest for tonight. Thanks all.

Hold the curser on the signal thats flashing. At a guess you've got an unsignalled junction ahead.

Interesting bit of info as I don't always use signals on my turnouts & have few problems operating them....using signals is however a good way to check in surveyor for track that isn't connected,at least on a closed loop as it will inform you that the line is either occupied or terminates.

I've encountered this sort of problem when an AI train is "competing" so to speak for a one way crossing with the turnout changing via the map view, most notably in the wheat campaign of the Marias pass approach route just outside of the Shelby depot....I hate it when Kenny's consist shows up heading westbound while I'm trying to cross the single span over the gorge as the AI consist always tries to switch the points automatically.

The 1 way to confuse an AI is no signals, the trouble is how many to put down and where. If you have 2 AI's sat there like fools in a snowstorm just put a wait for 2 mins at the front of ones schedule, the other will toddle off on his way having taken control of the junctions.

Who would like to take a look to my broken route?

I hope that more experienced players than me would catch the problem.

BTW, I exported both the route and the session to one CDP file using CM2. I guess that's the correct procedure to send a route to another player.

You are my last hope before I throw away this garbage....

You can e-mail it to me and I will take a look when I get my game up and running again although I am not sure when that will be at the moment.

My e-mail address is on my profile. Just give me a clue where your blinking signal is or what command(s) you are using when it happens so that I can re-create the problem

Andy

I will. Thanks Andy. I have a loco with a simple command 'go by trackmark'. The trackmark is beyond the branch from the mainline. That's all, simple, no more trains. A direct track 8 miles long up the hill to that track mark, the only switches are the two on the branch. That's all, simple.
I already open a ticket with Auran so hopefully they would discover something soon.

Code:
Sorry......What version of Trainz is your route built in ??

It is TS2009, my first and only Trainz software I ever had. (Well I lie, I am waiting for TS2010 :) )
