Can anybody help, I have been trying to download, routes from download station, Brighton to Horsham, Uk steam, and so on, every time I try to download the route I get this message in red, Unable to contact download station, your Internet settings may need changing, or your connection has been severed.

I was okay downloading a day or two ago, so what has gone wrong. Can anybody please help. I have no problem downloading other items, engines and so on, and my internet settings are fine. I hope somebody can help solve my problem. Thank you.

Am not sure what is causing this to occur but I too am having a similar problem using 2009 on specific routes. The routes I have been having trouble with are all by Angelah. The first route I noticed this on was Avalon but have tried two others since and all have failed in this way. However, when I try to download other routes like Murchison Logging by Sirgibby or 36ng logging by Col_Klink, I have no problems.

What I did to get Avalon, was to use ftp from the web site as apposed to using Content Manager. Takes a lot longer since you have to look for all the dependencies manually but most can be picked up by CM so it is not too bad!

Anyone else have a hint as to what is wrong?

Thanks

ftp

My advice, at least to get your routes down and onto your PC, is to use the ftp option for downloading the asset.
Go into your PC Explore and create a folder. Call it whatever you like but something like Auran DLS downloads would do, you know what it's about then.
Once you select the ftp option and get the the small menu that is the actual download one and click OK or whatever it is you will then be able to navigate to the folder you created and download to there.
Once you have the route(s) you want go to your folder and install the cdps.

I got DownloadHelperPro as well and that's a pretty good utility. But I have an idea I told you this before.

A theory of why this is happening!

Hi Folks,

Some of you are probably aware of this already, but after playing with downloads over the past couple of weeks I have discovered that I get the error: "Unable to contact download station, your Internet settings may need changing, or your connection has been severed" when ever the item I am attempting to download has more the 100MB of dependencies on the DLS. I have not been able to conclusively prove that this is the sole cause but this is a definite factor in the error message. I have yet to have a problem with downloading anything that has less than 100MB of dependencies on the DLS.

If I have the bulk of the dependencies already on my machine then the asset will download fine. I do not download much so I initially was receiving this quite a bit and had to use FTP to get the main asset, import the cdp into 09, view dependencies, then click and drap the DLS items to the download area.

It is my understanding from other threads that this may not occur if you have a first class ticket. Again, I do not have a FCT so I can not validate this theory.

Can anyone confirm or disprove this theory??

Thanks,

Bricey

I think there are technical difficulties because I received the same message a few minutes ago when I launched CM, and I never had problems like this before.

The web access to the DLS is working fine though.

Perhaps a better Error Msg is in Order?

Yes, it is true that you can only download 100MB per day without an FCT but the error message we get does not ellude (spelling?) to the fact that it has too many dependencies. It just give this lovely red error message and no other explanation.

Hopefully the developers can address this in a patch or at least incorporate it into a new release - perhaps ts2011??????

I 've been using firefox all the time I have been running Trainz & the DLS & DLH both work fine for me, with or without an FCT.
However, to download a route that is over 100MB without an FCT, you will have to use the FTP method, the download helper will not work in that instance.
