Uktrainsim

You need to register and log in first. Make sure you are in the Trainz section - most stuff on that site is for MSTS.

I've yet to find much on that site that isn't available elsewhere - I've never bothered with the site much at all...

A couple of my larger routes are available on there as they were too big for the DLS. However you should be able to find these on Train-sim.com too, which still requires you to register but is a bit more generous with the free access if you really don't want to pay the sub. (These days the "All Nodes are Busy" message rarely pops up). On the other hand, UKTS allows you to purchase a monthly membership, which is dirt cheap in real terms.

My current TRS project is also likely to be a whopper route if/when finished. The raw gnd file is 482Mb (not sure what that compresses to in a cdp) and even though a fair number of baseboards will be trimmed from that, the object placement tends to balance out.

IMHO High time the DLS upload limit was increased to something like 250Mb to cater for the larger routes out there thus avoiding the dependence on third party sites.

Fair point Vern, though the Auran guys have always said to contact them over larger routes, so alternative means of submission could be arranged...

more questions

So on the downloads does it say if it's free? or is it all free like the DLS unless it is on a disk/ a premium ( like an FCT )

Many thanks

All the files in the UKTS library are freeware, just like the DLS. You just decide what level of access you want - basic = free, premium = pay (a very small amount).
