Here's the proof that the alphanumbers will show up if set up correctly on the 141:

The only thing I can't do is make them renumberable, only you can do that WEN as the final error to sort is in the mapping of the alphaplane onto the graphic on the mesh as I've mentioned.

You have mapped onto digit_1-digit_1.texture (and the other 5 digits similarly), that's wrong it should be digit_1.texture, anything else won't work.

There was also an error with the alpha channel of the graphic you used but I've managed to sort that myself which is why the numbers now appear on the front.

I'll offer help a second time on this, if you want send me an exported .im mesh of the 141 mapped exactly as I've said and I'll send you back a fully working and renumberable 141 asset- in 5 minutes;)

Excellent, thank you very much, thats probably why then, I think thats down to how Max loves to export the texture.txts, now all I have to do as you say is sort it on the 141 :) I might do a minor update before hand though.
I thought I showed interest at the time, besides, my content is free to modify :)

EDIT, I forgot to say, I found out what that was as well, its where I use photoshop, I didn't quite get the hang of alpha channels, I have now, which is good.

EDIT2, thank you tmz06003! That was exactly the problem :) A problem that I often overlook with the exporter, still it works now and I need to modify the other textures to match. Now the fun part, 20 digits to make, excluding the Ms. I know

Yes, I've downloaded some of your meshes, I'm grateful for you sharing these for other projects.

Unfortunately I've encountered problems importing the 3ds meshes into GMax which is why I haven't done anything with them yet. The texture mapping has been lost on import. All of my intended work on 3ds origin meshes is therefore on hold until I can come up with a solution or until someone can point me in the right direction, as it will save me a lot of time if I can get the textures showing without manual remapping. The exception may be the Fowler mesh which I'll probably planar map entirely, but I'm in need of phototextures for what I have in mind for that one...

PS the 141 throws up a couple of missing passenger attachments in TS12, may be a good time to fix these so it's error free if you're thinking of an update? It's giving a warning also about a missing shadow, using PEVs simple shadow maker to add one would be another enhancement.

Thats good to hear, as I saw in the comment, the texture mapping can be a problem, I don't know why, I've yet to try the 3DS format, although I am starting to go over to FBX which is a lot more flexible, although GMAX can be a huge issue to support. If I could get around all that though, then that would solve a lot of problems.
The other problem I tend to have is some of the smoothing gets lost, I'm wondering if Autodesks 3DS exporter is the problem.

Thats another good idea, I might try that, given time, remindance and the like. I need to do a number of mods to the 141 anyway.
 
Let's shove the Blue theme in a Black 5's firebox and burn it. And here's the Black 5 we're going to burn it in! And some BR green, in the form of a Class 17.

WEN, if you have ever watched the austrailian railway film (ironically named the railway) you would know to wash the shovel with water and a clean cloth before putting your lunch on the shovel.

You reap what you sow mate, it's just we all love the blue diesels :D

BTW have you tried my reskin of that Black 5 on the DLS, I've added chameleon so it represents all of the preserved LMS black 5s, just to show I'm not completely biased. I've also reworked the green (and blue) Clayton, adding scripted snowploughs and working headcodes.

Good work with the Matchbox loco, I used to have the red one when I was small, along with the Pannier tank, NYK container wagon, the coach you're planning to make and the diesel in yellow and green.

What we need is more blue class 06 pics :)

@Timthetoolman The old video tape called the railway that I have got from years ago has 3 short films on it alltogether including A steam train passes,the railway (a video taken back years ago about the modernisation of australia railways, shows a rather unique short railway that used an old 1920's aec van & ends with a clip of 3830 & a commuter emu passing) and an older short film from the late 40's which explains about the various gauges which were used at the time and the rather interesting solutions to the problem to occured at the time with stock out of gauge.

The 502 is looking superb Wen. But if you are going to have a fully loaded 502, you will need to modify it so that each coach bends in the middle & the sliding doors keep getting stuck !!!:hehe:
